“Nice hotel”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

Stayed at Simple life hotel for 2 weeks! Service was good! The breakfast that's included every morning is decent but not a lot to choose from! Rooms and pool were good! Nice and central in Koh Tao! Only down side is that Koh Tao is being developed so there was 2 construction sites going on while we were there! Besides that very happy!

This was a really lovely little hotel in a great location on Koh Tao. Only a 2 minute walk to the beach. Pool was lovely, with a nice area to sit and read a book. Wifi worked well and there were TV's with cable in each room.

We had to move rooms once as our airconditioner broke. The hotel staff were more than happy to help us change rooms to a room with a working aircon. Was no trouble at all.

Hotel is right next to/adjoined to a restaurant/bar where breakfast is served. Okay food. Would probably stay again.

There is a free shuttle to where the ferry leaves. Keep an eye out so you don't have to pay for a taxi!

Room Tip: We booked into a Standard Boutique room. Well worth the extra money, as the Standard rooms were a l...

We didn't book anything when coming to the island so when we first arrived, we were staying at the hotel across the street in a horrible upstairs apartment room! We decided to switch in the morning and so we walked over to the Simple Life (across the street, so no beach access) and it was perfect! Their pool was open for much long than the other hotel, they were willing to check us in early and she gave us a discount because we were staying right next to the restaurant. The room next to the restaurant was a little noisier, but it closed at 10:30pm and we could pick up some wifi from the restaurant when normally I don't think the rooms had wifi.
Breakfast in the morning was good - just your average egg, bacon, toast, sausage and then you got to go up and chose from a buffet your cereal, fruit, yogurt, Thai breakfast... Etc.
The reception was great, I was using the wifi (and getting eaten alive by mosquitos) and the lady at the reception gave me some of her bug repellant lotion! They also helped us book our bus to Bangkok - for the exact same price as the ferry company had it posted so they didn't charge an extra fee for booking. Also, renting a motorbike is just right across the street for a reasonable price and the reception gave us a helpful map to find different places to go around the island to snorkel.

Little things like that are what made our experience as memorable as it was!

Room Tip: Anything really, I think there was construction going on so the rooms further away from the restaura...

We had a great time staying here. The rooms are big and pretty much all of them have a view I think. The staff were very helpful, and lent us cutlery and plates on the nights we ate in. We hired a moped to get around as it was cheaper than using the hotel taxi. Lots of great beaches only minutes away. Great restaurants close by as well. The infinity pool is lovely (if a bit of a trek).

Room Tip: Not sure, we stayed in the lotus building, and we could see the sea, but I think all the rooms have...

The rooms are big and confortable, but is very expensive for what you got.
No tub, a passway in front of your room, and construction noise from the neighbours.
The breakfast is bad, the bacon allways cold, and full of flies.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the location is good near of everything.
The nearest beach is nice, but full of boats and very crowdy.
If i would come back to Koh Tao, i would stay in other beach and place. ( for the money we payed)

We booked ahead using Agoda because we always read how booked up Koh Tao gets. I wish we hadn't bothered, it was low season and there seemed to be plenty of choice about that would have been a better deal. For 1500thb a night you get a very nice room, but that's about it. We wanted to shorten our pre-booked stay of 9 nights to 8 nights so we could spend longer on Koh Phangan, but they would not let us so instead offered us late check-out. When we got to the end of our stay we were told that because we had stayed for the whole 9 nights we could not have the late check-out and would have to pay 300thb if we wanted it.The Standard Boutique is a large room that comes with air con, large bed, sofa, coffee table, dressing table, tv with 10 channels, hot shower, fridge with mini bar and rooms cleaned daily. The resort has a pool, which was somewhat cloudy most days, a book swap in the foyer and a bar/restaurant serving all you can eat pizzas for 200thb after 6pm. Now for the bad parts: 1. Our first room on the ground floor had rising damp and smelled badly of mould. 2. The sound of people walking around/moving/scraping chairs from the floors above was loud seemly constant. 3. We got bitten by bed bugs on our second night. We asked to change rooms after this happened which, to be fair to the staff, they were very good about. First we were offered a room on the top floor right in front of very noisy building works. We asked if we could have a room away from all the noise and they put us right at the very end of the resort as far from the road as you can get, and it was perfect. This room even had a little drying room out the back which was perfect if you do a lot of diving and need your towels/swimmers/kit to dry quickly. One night I decided to get a pedicure done at the resort massage. It was meant to take 1 hour so to keep my boyfriend busy he got a thai massage. I was told to wait 10 minutes for my pedicure, so the girl got on with my boyfriend's massage. When the other girl turned up, I was told I could not have my pedicure, so I sat there for an hour staring at my chipped toe nailvarnish while my boyfriend got a massage he only bought to kill time. The massage, I am told, was not very professional either. There are plenty of places around, go elsewhere they are all the same price. We had a nice stay overall, but you can get better service elsewhere and most likely for less money too.

Room Tip: Rooms at the top of the building furthest from the road are the quietest.

The rooms were nice and clean with comfortable beds. The staff were fantastic very helpful and nice. I loved the 24 hour reception, and the resort is on the main street and close to the beach. The resorts restaurant had amazing food and cocktails, super cheap too. We got our scuba divers licence with simple life, it was really good value, safe and fun. Great place to stay in Koh Tao.
