Arriving here there is a wow factor. The view is beautiful and if you pay the extra for a sea view, you are rewarded by overlooking two swimming pools and the sea. The room was large, comfortable and clean - we arrived mid morning to find it was ready, a real bonus. The walk down to the beach which is quite steep in places, involves either walking down the road or across a rickety wooden walkway to a lovely snorkelling beach. This hotel is on the quiet side of the island away from all the bars, clubs and backpackers, so this is an ideal place for those who just want to chill out. There was no noisy music from a bar down the hill. The manager was an absolute joy who was very efficient and most helpful. There is a complimentary lift into town twice a day with pickups. The pools were very well maintained with a nice restaurant providing lovely views.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view - well worth it!

There are many good things, and some not so good things about this place, but it depends on the eye that sees it I guess. Ok we arrived after a funny ride sitting on the back of a hilux, the pickup was done by the resort. The Scenery, view and surroundings are amazing. We stayed in a villa about 20 m from the pool. It was ok but we struggled with agressive mozzies feeding on us throughout our stay, but what do you expect on a tropical island?

The road down to the beach is challenging for elderly or unfit people, beach is nice and snorkeling good, a little bit disapointing to see some of the reef killed off by pollution but its still fearly good snorkling. Food on the beach restaurants good.

Breakfast was ok and staff friendly. 400 baht for taxi to central area a bit overkill. Thanx for a good stay.

I checked in today thinking I booked a quiet location in a nice hotel. Well, the staff are friendly and the hotel is nice but there is a very noisy bar next door playing loud music, so very disappointing. I talked to the manager but they cannot do anything about it, they have tried but the other owners are not willing to turn the music down.
The pools are nice but cold, even when it is warm outside one might not fancy going into a cool pool or jacuzzi.
The food in the restaurant is good and service friendly.
The views are great and the beach has lots of boulders and is great for snorkeling.
A nice place to stay if you do not mind noise.

Room Tip: The bungalows are nice but even closer to the noisy bar. The top floor rooms have a nice view of the...

We stayed here for 6 nights and were not disappointed. We had chosen a room with a poolview/seaview and would advise anybody to do so, the garden views are not that interesting. With the poolview you can lie in bed and see the pool, the palm trees and of course the sea.

The staff at this hotel were very friendly, with one exception, the head waiter which never smiled and always seemed to be disappointed at something. Other than that the staff helped us with all arrangements - taxi, trip to Ko Phangan etc. The hotel holds a little stock of snorkelling equipment that is free to borrow for the day.

The rooms were clean, beds comfortable. Only sligth downside was that the plumbing smelled slightly in the bathroom, other than that the bathroom had a nice sink, and a large shower.

The hotel's restaurant is very cosy, placed outside under a roof, overviewing the pool and the sea. Service could be a little slow sometimes, so you might have to go and get the waiters to get them to come to the table or to fetch a menu. The food at this restaurant is decent, not very strong in taste but good, and the prices are reasonable for a hotel restaurant. They also make very good drinks that you can enjoy in the restaurant, or even better, at the infinity pool looking at the sea.

The poolside view room was on the expensive side, but I would still recommend staying here if you want some peace and quiet from the busy town of Mae Haad. The downside is that it costs 400 baht to get into town. The hotel does provide a free pickup and dropoff at the pier when you arrive and depart however.

This place is a must to wind down and relax .. it's views are a part of paradise .. infinity pool and jacuzzi over looks tanote bay ..our room felt like we were in a tree house over the side of a mountain ...walking distance to a small quiet beach with the best snorkelling on the island .. not for anyone wishing to party at night as getting to and from hotel at night can be pricy and difficult .. but hotel provide free taxi in at 1pm and out at 4pm for guests . To pick up provisions !! As hotel bar and restauraunt closes at 10 .. you can venture down to beach or to small tree house reggae bar for later drinks if you dare cross the bridge at night bring a torch .. over all this place is top of the list I would definetly recommend ..

First Tanote bay is the most beautiful bay on the island though a bit isolated - but that's why you come here (a taxi shuttle (2 times a day) to the other side of the island worked very well). We were in family villa close to the restaurant, the villa was fine and clean. The only issue we had, I fought a bit with an aircon, it was not completely repaired but a lady and boy at the reception were very helpful. There were two very nice swimming pool, from the one just below the restaurant it was excellent view on the whole bay. The same excellent and relaxed views were from the open restaurant where food was above average and we actually have eaten all dinners here over 1 week stay! The way to a beach about 5 min on the wooden footbridge that I recommend to get in shape again. Our family loved the beach, Diamond restaurant for lunches, excellent snorkelling and the sea. If you want to stay just at the beach, go to Tanote Bay Resort, also quite nice.

It is hard to know what to say about the staff, they are honest, friendly and helpful, but they are frankly, hopeless. There seems to be nobody is control, nobody organising, and nobody fixing all the mistakes. It is a shame because so much money has been spent on making the resort, 15 or 20 villas, another 30 rooms in a hotel-style building, 2 large pools, nice reception and gardens, and not 1 baht spent on training or wages.
The only road to the rest of the island is awful. Very steep, made of dirt and dangerous. It would take a sweaty hour to walk to the next beach, longer to the town. The resort doesn't rent motorbikes. Taxis from the main town or main beach are $15 US one-way. More if there are more people!? The resort has a free taxi twice a day, at 8.30AM and 1PM, and it is difficult to organise a taxi any other time of day.
You have to wonder about the owners of this business. They would appear to lack passion, only building this resort because all their neighbours have, not because they want to. I thought this kind of attitude had left Thailand 15 or 20 years ago but I was wrong. It is still here if you want to see what it used to be like, but I wouldn't recommend it.
