A very friendly and accommodating family running a clean and relaxing place with awesome views of the sea and sunset. We were sad to leave them. Also, the food is delicious! A little far out from town, but that was a good thing.

You can't beat the location, really. June Juea beach is really small and quiet, it often feels as if you have it all to yourself. Beautiful coral to marvel at when you swim just a few dozen meters into the sea, and another guest even saw a sea turtle while we were there.
Great food, friendly hosts, and a very relaxing familial atmosphere around the place. We booked a snorkeling trip around the island and that was the highlight of our whole month in Thailand, you just have to do this.
Rooms are a bit basic considering the rates, but really, it's a small price to pay considering what this place has to offer.

We stayed almost a week at PD Resort. The family who runs it, is really lovely and the hospitality is very good! We felt very comfortable! The bungalow was clean and comfy! The food is tasty as well and the view its just great while you having dinner!!! Its a really quite little beach with three cute lovely doggies hanging around there. For us it was perfect because we love dogs, but no worries if you don't like dogs..just ignore them!! :))) We still miss them!! :)
We would recommend this place for sure and wanna say thank you to the family from PD!!!
After a while traveling in Thailand...definitely was the best place for us:)))

PS: We didn't mind about the big resort next to PD!

We are two 40 something travellers - not wanting to completely rough it, but neither wanting to be complete tourists lounging about by the pool being brought drinks and generally being lazy holiday makers. I had done a fair bit of research before we came out, because we were mainly coming out to dive - whilst obviously be somewhere nice and hot, and fulfil all be it for a short time - my restless need for adventure and go somewhere where we can be part of the culture and eat nice food :) So - we had settled on PD Resort, and diving at Alvaro Diving (a short, steep hike over the hill in Chalok Baan). The resort really is all we expected and more - somepeople have said that they were disappointed that it is really simple. It is, and all the better for it in my opinion. The other complaint seems to be about the water - the whole island seems to be suffering at the minute with some problems with their water supply. It's got something in it, I don't know if its iodene or rust or what but brace yourself beause your finger nails will go kind of orange and so will your clothes). Me, I don't really care about this kind of stuff, I'm on holiday and I`m having a nice time - for me these kind of things are just noise. The main things abot PD are that the food in the restaurant is incredible - all home made by I think daughter and Mum who go into the kitchen and russle you up whatever you order. The restaurant overlooks the sea, and quite honestly the best sunset I have ever seen. The beach is OK - would i want to be here for 2 weeks just using the beach as a holiday, no probably not, the seabed off the beach is very corally and not ideal for swimming. But you can easily go to Pinacle resort next door and lie by their pool. They are also having water problems so the pool is a bit murky but it's fine and there are loads of loungers. PD resort the rooms are fine, huge bathrooms, beautiful views. The beds are a bit hard, but I know after a cople of days i'll probably realise that it's done my back the world of good. Everything is clean, well looked after, friendly family, pretty beach, more stuff to do over the hill if you want - amazing food in the restaurant. Can't fault it personally - fab.

PD resort is situated a bit outside Chalok Bay in the south of Koh Tao on June Juea beach. After a 5-10 minute very steep walk from Chalok (start at Alvaro Diving direction of Viewpoint resort) you'll find the secluded beach area with only two or three hotel facilities so you practically have your own private beach at the hotel.

The 6 or 7 rooms are very basic but that fact is duly made up by the very friendly Thai family that runs the place. They really make you feel at home and very relaxed. The view from the restaurant terrace offers some of the best sunsets on Ko Tao. Make sure to try their Pad Thai, it's the best we had in the Gulf of Thailand.

The hotel has no pool but you can easily use the pool of the resort nextdoor. They even provide a free pickup service to and from the Mae Haad pier. Just make sure to email them before you arrive.

Great place, great people, great surroundings! Thanks again for the nice stay!

After having read about PD Resort on Tripadvisor we were a bit disappointed on arrival. The resort is approx 10 years old and the bungalows are quite run down, there does not seem to have been very much maintenance in those years. There is nowhere to put your things, not even a hook for the towels. And the light is dimm. In the restaurants reclining area the cusion-covers are completely torn. If we had been young backpackers I do not thing we would have been bothered. But for the price we paid we had definately expected more. But the food is very delicious and the people there are extremely friendly, which makes up a lot for the rest. Fortunately we could go next door to the Pinnacle resort and sit at the poolside.

This family run 'resort' really is the ideal place to kick back and take it easy for a couple of nights. The meals on the deck are absolutely spectacular and freshly made by the family running the place. I wouldn't suggest you stay here if you're looking for lots of action, but not all that many people are on Koh tao are, and we were more than happy with this. The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed in a Thai fashion. The breakfasts are basic but lovely and using the neighbouring resort's large deck and pool is completely acceptable.
One way taxis into town are quite expensive (500 baht) directly from PD, so I would advise that you either rent a bike or walk across to chalok baan and get one from there (about 200 baht).
