During my stay at Ananda I stayed at least one night in the variety of lodging options provided by Ananda Villa--they can accomodate a variety of budgets. Just a ahort walk from the pier when you come off the boat. I would recommend lodging here for its professional and friendly staff, variety of lodging options and liked that it was not around the 'party scene' further up the hill though just a 15-20 min hilly walk to the bars etc. Their restaurant across the way was DELICIOUS!
Drop off Laundry service was also available
And internet was good too.

Option 1-- wooden budget bungalows which are not on the beach but just a short walk and located in the wooded area just beyond the main office. These were rustic but clean-- you need a flashlight if walking back to your place at night because it is not well lit and you might walk up to the wrong bungalow. :)

Option 2-- Balcony rooms which were a treat and easily accomodates 4 depending on bed selection. I liked these best as you are right on the beach and the rooms are well appointed and have AC.

Option 3- budget rooms essentially cement block rooms with a bathroom and shower. These were also on the beach but had no AC and just one fan which moves but is hardly enough to cool the room if there are two people.

The rooms in all styles were clean--harmless but annoying little ants trailed in and out of Option 3- so I put my pack up on the shelf.

The hotel is in a good location, right on the beach front. Our room was on the 1st floor, was spacious and clean, however we asked to be moved to the room next door as it had a view straight out to the beach. The girl at reception was lovely and was happy to move us. Our stay included breakfast in the little restaurant across the path, was quite basic but nice. I would stay here again.

Room tip: If you book ask for the end room on the 1st floor, I think it made all the difference.

Nice girl at the reception. Modern Hostel, confortable, clean, near the sea, but not possible to swim because of boats and dirty sea. WIFI, no breakfast, TV,fridge, good air conditioned, in the village of Mae Haad, in front of the best restaurant in the town, and at 3 minutes from the boat quay.
A little expensive.

This hotel was horrible and very expensive. The service was bad, the bed felt like a stone and there were a lot of ants. If you get a good deal and pay no more than 400 baht then it would be worthwhile but its dated and they charged too much, maybe because they are so close to pier... approach with caution.

I stayed for 2 days in the bungalow and for 3 in the room
The room and bathroom are very large. Equipped with air conditioning, fridge, TV, kettle with coffee and tea. I then had the good fortune to stay in that is closest to the beach. The convenience of the location is that a few meters away is everything you need, shops, restaurants, bike rental, and when you get off the ferry in a minute's walk you arrived. On the other hand is that you're on the pier and you hear the noise of the ferry from 7 am to 11 pm. To get a clean room you have to leave the key and say it. (Unusual).
The bungalows are more quiet but rather old and poorly furnished. When you get out and disconnect the key, also disconnect the power to the fridge!!!
The room deserves 1 ( or 2) more "star" than the bungalow.
