We happened to be kayaking past these bungalows, and immediately decided that we had to find a way to stay here. Though the ride getting to and from here is a bit bumpy, albeit slightly inconvenient, it is well worth it. Stunning ocean views, complete peace, and a phenomenal opportunity to stargaze and watch the sunrise. The bungalows are simple, with just a bed (with mosquito net), an outdoor bathroom (no hot water- but it was the most refreshing shower I've ever had), and an amazing hammock. Also very clean! The only downside is that the place is a bit out of the way - but you can arrange for taxi's (the owners will arrange to pick you up when you arrive freeof charge). Walking is do-able (we did it), but be aware that is it quite the uphill trek. If you're looking for a relaxing, peaceful, one-with-nature getaway with then this place is for you!! I would love to go back here.

Room tip: Ocean view room was incredible

Truly a marmite experience. To set things straight: it is incredibly lovely and romantic and the photos are very much true. What is not obvious until you get there is just how remote it is - once you are there that is it. You get picked up from the pier Ina 4 x 4 and after a somewhat hairy ride you arrive at a desert island paradise. If you are over 20 and value your life You then realise that you need to rent a 4 x 4 or she'll out for fairly pricey transport/cabs each time you want to get somewhere. Which is not so bad until you find out you are way up above the sea line and the beach is a cab ride away. A lovely team of four runs the place while the owner is away cockerel-fighting - the gardener is the driver and the maid is the sous chef. We had a meal cooked for us in a tiny kitchen/diner hewn into a rock - it was fantastic right until the point when the receptionist/waiter decide to use his (gross moment alert) thumbnail to dispose of a tick he removed from the friendly Rottweiler. And then he used the same hand to offer us some sticky rice dessert. So we ran. Not before we spent one night in our lovely little hut, and truly it was one of the best night's sleep ever - the jungle brings peace and quiet. Sadly not for us.

We booked online through an agent. Then emailed for further info. The location is beautiful looking over the sea. We used the pick up from the pier which was fine (the pier is a little frantic when the boats get in). Its a little bumpy but not too bad. My teenagers really enjoyed the ride! The rooms are rustic and there were holes in the insect nets. The lighting is also very dim so it would be good to have torch. The balcony looking out to sea with hammock is beautiful. It is not easy to get down to the sea. At one point you need to duck under the rocks. The food was very good and Tony is a really nice bloke. The taxi to town is a little pricey especially if there are a few of you. They organised a snorkelling trip for us which was good.

When first arriving in Ko Tao I was somewhat disappointed, the west side of the island didnt really do anything for med. But booking with Tony at Moon Dance and taking that crazy pickup ride across the island to the east side changed my perspective completely. In short: Amazing views, just breathtaking. Charming, breezy and basic bamboo huts that make you feel like you're sleeping in the jungle at night. Bathrooms/showers are outside, but are fine. Just put your mask on and walk down a steep path for some great snorkeling. There is no beach, but a big deck for relaxing and sunbathing. And bonus points must go to the man with the plan, Tony in reception. Friendly, energetic and funny, he takes care of everything and loves socializing with the guests. We booked two nights, ended up staying for six. The small restaurant is great for meeting other travelers, and we had plenty of good nights there, drinking, listening to Tony's various playlists and playing games. Good times were had by all. It is off the beaten path, but it only takes about 15 minutes to get to the other side, so its not like you are completely lost. Cannot recommend this place enough, I will definitely go back!

Our stay here was just what the Doctor ordered. The location is ideal for rest, relaxation, amazing snorkeling and a beautiful environment. It's quite rustic, with outdoor bathrooms which we loved. The food is fantastic and the entire team that words here is friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcome the entire stay, especially tony! It's very easy to coordinate taxis into town, which is an adventurous ten minute drive. Our bungalow had spectacular views. All in all, a magnificent place to stay for the right person. Any bad reviews are from guests that are unwilling or not used to connecting with nature.
