Fantastic service from Kit and the crew at the villas - always willing to help and offer advice. We stayed in the Mokara villa (2 bedroom) with two couples and it was perfect. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and fantastic pool (which you need after walking up the set of stairs to the rooms!!). 10 minute walk to Sairee Beach was more than manageable.
Wifi didn't work for the 5 nights we were there but most cafes in town provide free wifi if you really need it.
Bathrooms didn't smell great, think it was the water, not cleanliness though.
Breakfast was included and yummy - fresh tropical fruit is always a winner.
The villas are surrounded by palm trees and it gives a real taste of the local nature - squirrels in the early morning running along power lines and Tokay (large geckos) eating the mosquitoes for you in the outside lounge areas at night. A fantastic place to stay.

Stayed here for one night and thought the villa was stunning, we stayed in Miltonia. Had own small private pool, 2 loungers, open air living room where they will bring you lunch/dinner and was DVD player with selection choose from, nice bedroom with mosquito net which is necessary, rainforest shower (not really hot though). Aircon was a little noisy and seemed turn itself off in middle night

Supposed be free wifi but didn't work, think was an issue with connection though

Its about a ten minute walk down hill to the beach which is shame as most loungers there appeared be owned by resorts but sure could probably hire some. And the pool was so nice we mainly stayed put as only there for 1 night

Food was good however few odd experiences! I ordered a spicy Thai mango salad and got some salad with dry shrimp and no mango. Then in evening they didn't seem that happy we wanted eat as already had large order from another villa & arent a restaurant, I explained there was no rush so that seemed to help and the curry was very good but they forgot bring us the fruit platter we'd ordered. I tried the fruit pancake for breakfast, very nice.

We stayed at this small slice of paradise for relaxation, romance, quiet, and to be able to travel places and be close to town but to also be away from it all at the end of the day….this location provided JUST that. Hidden away on the hillside with an incredible view and a beautiful natural villa…it was lovely. The room was truly unique and offered a great view, and the pool was bliss to come home to after a busy day!! Waking up to that view also was spectacular. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and the food was delicious!! Literally the BEST green curry we've had in Thailand, and we've been here for almost 2 months. Plan to be a part of nature as there were fluffy tailed squirrels and cool coloured lizards and fruit bats hanging out with us at our villa, and lots of birds and butterflies. Yes, there are mosquitoes, but that's everywhere and it was nothing a mosquito net couldn't solve….they provided spray and coils. Something living in the roof directly above our bed chose to wake us a lot earlier than anticipated everyday, but we were awake, with coffee in the room, to see the sun come up every day which was lovely!! All a matter of perspective. :) The lounging area with the TV & DVD player was great to unwind in the shade and a perfect spot to order some more of their great home cooked goodness (very well priced food and minibar!). We could easily have stayed more nights just to try the rest of the menu and for the private pool. There's also a great area for taking in the sunshine with the view beside the pool. There is a parking place for your scooter at the bottom of the hill (but plan on a few stairs to climb to get to your villa) or you could get a car/taxi to the top of the hill, or you can walk to and from town…takes about 10min. And call it lucky but there were no children at the resort when we were there so it offered a wonderful adults only stay…this place is wonderful for romance, not kids. We would like to recommend some sort of privacy screen at the main entrance to the villa and in the left corner beside the fridge as you are literally on display to anyone that passes on the stairs. Fortunately there are only 4 villas total so virtually no traffic, but a tad more privacy couldn't hurt anyone. Also could use a bottle opener and lighter. Overall a lovely stay with great staff and a beautiful pool villa with a fantastic view….definitely staying here again!

Room Tip: We stayed in Laelia and it was lovely. We imagine all the villas are equally as nice. There is a f...

If you are expecting a tropical island paradise please think again. Visited several months back and felt compelled to write this review to share my feelings about this "resort". First of all Anankhira does indeed have a sea view from the villas, that cannot be denied. But one must take into account the ugly pink building on the right of the resort as well as the staff quarters of Bowthong (or palm leaf resort) which are in front of Anankhira. Occasional burning of garbage by the aforementioned resorts were also bothersome, although depending on the direction of the wind. Finally, to add insult to injury the loud noise of the generator from Coral Grand Resort was at times infuriating. All these issues are not Anankhira fault, but still bothersome to potential guests. Someone should really take to task Bowthong, Palm leaf and Coral Grand for being such environmental terrorists, but at the end of the day it comes back to haunt Anankhira.

Now about Anankhira itself, then the villa we itself was nice enough although in need of some tlc. The service was okay but you're not in a real resort so it really isn't comparable to such.

Will not be back.

Firstly it is rather strange that you felt "compelled " to write this review four months after you allegedly stayed with us. We have no record of a couple from Hong Kong staying with us during July of this year. Further all of you observations regarding the area surrounding Anankhira are incorrect namely:

1. The pink building you mention is some distance from Anankhira and does not in any way interfere with the extensive gardens that surround the resort. In fact the building can only be seen from one villa if you decide to stand on a chair and look over the wall half a mile! It does not interrupt any of the sea views. We never suggest that out resort is isolated. Most resorts on the island have other resorts or buildings nearby. We clearly show the relationship of said building in one of the photos posted here on Trip Advisor.
2. The staff quarters of Bowthong are not in front of Anankhira. We own the land in front of our resort. So, the idea of rubbish being burned there is just ridiculous!
3. Coral Grand resort is just too far away from Anankhira for any noise to be heard from its generator - just take a look at a map of the island reader and you will see that this is the case.

I note also that no other review, except one that was removed because it was not genuine, has ever mentioned either the burning of rubbish or the noise from the Coral Grand generator.

Trip Advisors reputation is built on genuine reviews by travelers and they make every effort to protect this in the light of which they are investigation this review.

This was our most breathtaking resort we stayed at during out two week vacation to Thailand. We stayed for 4 nights and loved our spot. There are only 4 villas on the property so you feel you get very personalized service and you feel you are in your own vacation land. Your villa has a private pool, living area, bedroom and bathroom. Only the bedroom has four walls and a ceiling. Other rooms have partial walls/ceilings and are exposed to the outside. This is utterly amazing in Thailand as you really feel one with your private villa. We spent a full day lounging by the pool enjoying our spot and then walked down to Sairee Beach area other days for diving or to hang by the ocean.

The walk is very reasonable, but a little old after four nights as it is uphill on the way back. Be sure you are comfortable with nature as we did have some lizards around and lots of mosquitoes (slept under a much needed mosquito net). The bedroom with four walls allows for AC at night which was perfect.

Breakfast was included each day and delicious. Service by all staff was wonderful. Strongly recommend for a private, quiet getaway.

Thank you for your lovely review and recommendation. The design of the resort is rather unique and was designed by one of the leading Thai architects. There is an inside/ outside feel and nature is very present. We built the resort around the rocks and trees rather than the other way round. But, if you have too much of the outside you can always retreat to the air-conditioned bedroom. So glad you enjoyed your time with us and we hope to see you again soon.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was fantastic. We loved the villas which were very clean, spacious and the addition of the private pool was, as you might imagine, very welcome! Staff were very sweet and did anything you want, organising meals and trips out etc- just ask at reception. Breakfast was delish- and a lot of it. Overall, Anankhira was the highlight of our trip and to anyone thinking of booking, I'd say go ahead!

Really impressed with this little place, I must say. Picked up from the pier by the lovely staff and from that point on everything was really magical. The private pools are such a bonus and definitely worth paying a bit extra for- you feel like you can get away from it all, but are never too far away from the beautiful Sairee beach. Would recommend to any friend!
