This turned out to be my favourite stop in Thailand. We got to the Koh Tao Cabana for around 300 baht in a taxi from the pier once we were off the boat. Checking in was easy and we were given cold flannels and a drink on arrival - in the searing heat this was most welcoming!

We booked into Koh Tao Cabana b&b for 3x nights (cottage 33) at the beginning of April. Cottages are the cheapest option at this resort. I say cottage but it looked like a treehouse. It was fully functioning tho, air con/ hot water / cable tv/ safe/ comfy bed etc and here in Koh Tao you are doing extremely well to have all those amenities!!! There was an outdoor shower at the back at first I wasn't sure but I soon got to love it. Bugs never really bothered me during this stay (lots of geckos & the noises they make are hilarious) and the staff kindly left us bug spray in the room anyway - a nice touch. Breakfast is in the most beautiful setting overlooking a cove and a good menu too - western choices as well as Thai dishes.

Our cool treehouse with its own hammock, was a 2-3 minute walk from the resorts designated bit of beach, baring in mind this is at the end of sairee beach it is perfect, very serene & peaceful - don't forget your snorkell. Getting a sunbed was never an issue & staff are on hand to serve a food/drink menu. If you wanted to walk along to the busier part you can it will take you around 10 minutes along the beach. A few bars, shops, restaurants await.

I was anxious from other reviews on coming here, for eg: being basic - yes it is but it feels like a luxury type of basic, it felt like we were living in the wild with all the mod cons we needed. The noise - it did not bother us from the bars further along the beach it was only very faint I found, and this is Sairee beach - if you want total isolation stay somewhere else! I would advise you need to be mobile though to stay here as getting to our treehouse consisted of a 2-3 minute uphill walk involving a few steps. The electricity seemed to regularly go on and off but I think this is an island thing as opposed to the resorts fault. And yes the swimming pool is closed at the moment.

Overall I loved it & if I ever return to Koh Tao I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We stayed here for 3 days on our 3 week honeymoon in Thailand. The resort is few minutes walk from the centre of everything!!! We booked a honeymoon villa (no18). The villa was amazingly beautiful!!! Great view of the beach, 180degrees of sea. We had the infinity pool which we enjoyed a lot. They cleaned the villa and pool every single day!! The open air shower might be a bit scary but we didn bother. Good an service was great too. Reception desk was very helpfull with transfers, luggage etc. On our arrival we were greatest with raspberry ice tea and a snack. Literally there's NOTHING to complain!!! If I had to come back to Koh tao I would definatly book here again. We did know about the pool since it was written on the booking site!!!

We had booked a pool villa and another two bedroom villa and had requested that both be near each other. Despite having exchanged several mails, paying the full amount in advance and confirming by phone the morning of arrival... When we arrive at the front desk we are told the pool in the villa is under repairs and even the main resort pool is not working. When asked why we wernt informed despite so many mail exchanges they simply said 'we did inform by mail, if you did not receive it, it's your problem.' When we said why don't you show us the mail on your own computer, they refused saying 'you have to prove we didn't send it, we don't have to prove anything.'
Extremely rude behaviour of the front desk. My friend took a refund and stayed elsewhere but we were forced to stay as room were not available elsewhere on such short notice.
A beautiful holiday ruined because of insensitive staff. During our check out when we brought this to the notice of a new face at the reception she actually turned around and said 'why did you even book yourself at this place, it's your own fault.'

We had an awesome cabana near the beach for four of us girls! Definitely deluxe :)
The front desk staff were so kind!
On a great part of the island - walking distance to all the great activities/bars/restaurants on the beach!
Best bang for our buck on our Thailand trip!
Koh Tao is super mellow - you must do a snorkel trip around the island! Although, if you get the hotel to organize for you, make sure that you request to take a private taxi/long boat. You do not want to end up on the big boat that hauls you around the island like a bunch of cattle!

We stayed in a villa at the top of the slope, a lovely round room which was spacious and tastefully decorated. From the balcony there was a great view over the bay. It was really comfortable , and the staff were very attentive. The restaurant is on a rock overlooking the bay - a gorgeous place for breakfast. However there was a downside in that a bar several hundreds of yards away on the beach plays music into the early hours. The last time I heard the thump of the base was at 1.45 in the morning! The staff are aware of the problem, and ear plugs are provided in the room, but no matter how lovely a room is, if you can't get a good night's sleep, then the stay is spoilt.

After researching trip advisor I chose to stay here and booked the most expensive rooms in the new block at 2500 baht (£50) a night and I stayed 8 nights. So let's start with the positives:-
1) the resort is slap bang in the middle of sairee beach and location is brilliant.
2) the new rooms by the pool are done to a very high standard and are luxurious.
3) nice pool to lie round with about 16 sunbeds of which half are permanently in the shade

Drawbacks:-
1) the main complaint is that although these rooms are brand new and clearly they have spent a lot of money on them, they spent no money or planning with regard to soundproofing. There is absolutely NO soundproofing. You will here the people in the next rooms full conversation as though they were standing at the bottom of your bed. You will here them go to the loo, here the TV, hear them snore and hear them making love. FUN??? Not when you are trying to get to sleep at 4am. I used earplugs for the full 8 nights and was disturbed every night. In addition the resort has cockerels roaming about it and they start crowing about 6am. There is usually only a window of 2 hours where it is quiet. The windows of the room are also ill fitting and also there is no sound proofing to the occasional drunks wandering home at 3am.
2) these are probably the most expensive accommodation at sairee beach. I would on hindsight book a cheaper bungalow that is at least quieter nod save about 1,000 baht a night. You can also get accommodation although basic for as low as 500 baht in sairee so the luxury is not worth it died to the noise.

Basically a lovely resort but ruined due to the fact you feel as though you are staying in a dorm where you can't see the other people but you hear everything a though they were in the room with you. I'm very surprised this has not been reported before.

Finally I loved Koh Toa it's fantastic and sairee is lovely chilleD vibe but won't stay in these rooms again and won't waste so much money next time

This hotel will never be luxury but its setting is amazing. The villas are set high which gives a great view and a sense of privacy yet only 10 min pleasant walk on the beach to all the restaurants, shops and bars. This was our 4th visit to this hotel simply because of its charm and location on this lovely island. We never went for the food or service because it was sadly lacking. There seemed to be nobody managing this resort.
This time it was as good as it gets. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. The restaurant was good and for the first time staff would come to the beach area to ask guests what they would like. If you are looking for a Hotel in Koh Tao you wont be disappointed. We were so impressed we booked another 15 night stay this December.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good but if your not too good at climbing steps request one nearer the beach.
