Myself and husband have just checked out of the Koh Tao Cabana hotel to move on to Koh phagnan the Buri Rasi now take some notes Koh Tao Cabana this is luxury with amazing service!!
I rarely do reviews and I always think of the bad reviews to be from people that moan about everything but I had to write a review on this hotel as it's not as described.

When we booked the hotel the booking website mentioned that they had a pool/ beach bar/ free wifi but in fact the pool has been closed for some time, there was no beach bar, and only place we could get wifi was sitting at reception and really that's not ideal.

Our TV didn't work so we mentioned it to reception and the ladies response was none of the TVs work and will be fixed in 2 days , we'll 6 days we stayed and the TV didn't work for the full duration, tbh I know it's only a TV and we wouldn't be staying in the room watching TV but you expect to have a TV for the price we paid, also Wifi throughout!

We had a sea view cottage and the view room was lovely but the walk every night to get down was horrendous it was pitch black a few dim lights dotted around so we would take our iPhone torch to see where we was walking as we would always see huge crabs , lizards, big frogs, and centipedes which isn't fun if you don't like these creepy creatures!

We would go out every night to the main village so the option would be walk along the beach in which we did at the beginning or walk along a dark dirt track 10 mins into town again there was no lights walking this way and felt very unsafe, we decided to walk back the beach way after watching the England Game and we we're approached by about 8 dogs just by the hotel
Next door they was barking and surrounding us we literally had to run away!! The hotel should provide a free shuttle into and back from town at several times a night to make guests feel more safer.

We didn't once see any security staff and we would come back at different times at night something's 12pm sometimes 2am but no night guards, again this needs to be sorted out for hotel guests safety.

The attitude of reception staff was very poor and they couldn't care less.

Also we had breakfast once and this was awful I could of had a nicer breakfast at a 2 star resort than here.

Do not stay here unless you like to feel like you've been robbed! You will get much more for your money at a smaller resort like the Simple Life Resort!

Staff utterly rude, miserable and unhelpful!

Stinks, full of insects, food terrible! Pool under maintenance and was not informed.

Management seriously need to attend customer service training.

Would not recommend this hotel and will certainly not return in the future!

Our stay was from 21 untill 29 th may 2014 in a cottage with Seaview (Room 24).
We were welcomed by the reception crew with fresh towels and drink and they perfectly explain the hotel rules.
Our room was perfect and clean with an amazing seaview from the terrace!
We noticed that the swimming pool was closed for renovation but with such a great beach, you don't really need it.
The restaurant provides a really great breakfast with a lot of choice (just try the BLT... To die for!) and you are welcomed by their fantastic crew...A special thanks to Aye Myat & Fa for their attention and dedication. They are amazing and really made your stay unforgettable!
We would certainly come back next time.

When we arrived at the hotel the welcoming was nice and expected but once we saw our room we were very dissapointed, although the room looked exactly like the picture the actual room looked a little more dirty than the picture. The air conditon wasn't producing enough cold air and my ocean view room can only be seen from a certain corner and you need ignore the bushes and trees that are on the way.

the biggest probelm was when i arrived to the hotel they told me that the public swimming pool was not ready , and when i told them i paid for a swimming pool they just said we spoke to all holiday website for over a month about the state of the pool and i should take it with the website that i booked my hotel from. after 3 hours of call to my holiday maker and the management, the management had the nerves to say that they don't have public pools to begin with it was only private pools, and i was like but you said the public pool is under construction and it's not ready all of sudden you don't have a pool.

any way , we left the room after 3 hours because it didn't suit us and the pool and the shower that was outside the room so you don't know what could hit you or who can see you while your having a shower.

Room Tip: Don't choose an ocean view it's not worth it

We spend 5 nights in total, after we pre-booked for 6 nights and payed 100% before arrival. Big mistake! We booked directly with the hotel, mainly just to avoid surprises like we experienced.

We had to chance schedules and therefore leave 1 night earlier. During our arrival told this straight away. The hotel can't make these decisions themselves and have to contact headquarters. Well, the first reaction was I got a big discount and the rate was non-refundable. So no refund for the last night!

Then we got our room, which had an amazing view of Sairee Beach. We had a cottage and you do have to walk some steps, so your always sweating to go up :) However the view once again was amazing. There is AC, but when you leave the room it will go off.

Big disappointment was the pool that was closed and we were not informed. When asking the front desk, the called hq and they first said 'yes, but we didn't sold you a pool with the room'. Come on?? seriously?? you call yourself a Resort! There should be a pool.

I can go on on and but that headquarters wast the most strong headed, non-listening and responding (after a call that was hung up by hq when I talked to them and 2 emails that got no reply) I decided not to ruin the holiday. The front desk manager did try to help us and offered us the Honeymoon Cottage for the last night, which had a pool. We used the pool and enjoyed it very much.

So A+ for the front desk manager but a very very big no, no, no ever!! when it comes to booking with this company again!

Room Tip: When booking cottage as for no 14 to 17 (18 is honeymoon). The have the best views on the beach
