“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014

We were here for 3 days and didn't feel the need to leave the resort. It was a great break from the intensive holidaying we'd done on our 3 weeks in Thailand.

Beautiful ocean views from our amazing room. The food and service were great here, even the room service. All the restaurants are open air so they are very hot 24/7 so beware, but they do offer an amazing view. Slow bar service during happy hour so order ahead of time, the cocktails are great along with the happy hour price.

The snorkelling was amazing. You can hire a snorkel set from the dive centre by the beach (don't mind the unfriendly staff down there, they're the only ones) then head out for hours! The black fin reef sharks offer some added excitement but don't worry they're harmless. It's a rock beach so don't expect white sand. If you do want white sand they offer a free boat service to the beach a couple of minutes away.

There are many stairs so you have to be mobil. If you're okay with that then I'd highly recommend this resort.

We arrived at the pier from our boat from kho samui and waiting for us were two very helpful, smiling men from Jamahkiri who insisted on carry our overly heavy bags to the shuttle bus that was there ready and waiting for us. After a 10 min drive through town and up some of the steepest hills we have ever been on we arrived at the beautiful resort. Check in was smooth and quick and we got to met the resident macaw that kept us entertained which we sipped on our welcome drinks. We were shown to our room and given a tour of the resort which made us feel very at home straight away.
We chose to book one of the cheapest rooms and we were not disappointed we had our own balcony with uninterrupted views of shark bay below it was just stunning. The rooms are very clean and have all you could need. The only two small issues I could think of to mention is the wifi is very weak in our room but great everywhere else inc pool, restaurant etc. The other minor gripe was the shower is very high up on the ceiling so by time water hits you it's a bit weak. But these are seriously minor things.

The pool is great, beautiful views of the bay as it is perched on the side of the mountain. Great happy hour cocktails and the staff at the bar and around the pool are brilliant always there with clean dry towels when you need. They were so sweet when my partner decided to go swimming with his iphone in his pocket they grabbed a box of dry rice to help dry the phone out, found screwdrivers and helpful advice about where to find a a shop to fix it. They went completely above and beyond we were so grateful.

For the best snorkelling, hire a kayak from the resort and paddle out to the right of the bay into deeper water to see the best sea life including reef sharks :)

Have no hesitation about booking this resort if you would like complete peace and quite in a beautiful location set in pristine grounds.

We stayed here for 3 nights in April 2014 as part of our honeymoon. Our room had the most amazing view of the bay, which you can get to by walking down a few flights of stairs, there is a diving place at the bottom where you can hire snorkels and goggles and then you can just jump in the water and its like swimming in an aquarium!

The food at the restaurant was very nice, probably more expensive than eating in town, the free shuttles to town during the day are a nice touch. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and I really loved how they packed a breakfast for us on the morning we left as it was very early when our taxi picked us up.

We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Ask for one nearer the top so you don't have to climb too many stairs to get to the pool and res...

We had the absolute pleasure of staying here for 4 nights in April. We wished that we stayed here longer! Other subsequent resorts that we later stayed in Koh Samui just couldn't compare with here. Even though those resorts were priced the same, or if not higher, their level of service paled in comparison! The food serviced in the restaurant was some of the best Thai food that we have ever tasted. The resort is immaculately presented and maintained. The service and pricing is second to none. We will definitely return for a longer period next time and give other resorts in Thailand a big miss. Big thanks to Nice and all the staff for making our stay so wonderful! We will never forget the experience!!!

Jamahkiri we stayed here 3 nights in bungalow 1. It was at the very bottom with our balcony right on the water which we could hear and smell while sitting on the balcony, we so enjoyed it. We changed bungalows when we arrived ed from #2 because we wanted our bathroom enclosed. 2 had an open air bathroom which while very cool I was afraid of mosquitoes in there. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and what a magical place to do this. The snorkeling in front of the hotel is very good. Although a lo t of coral is dead or covered in algae, the fish are beautiful and we saw several very large turtles and several reef sharks. We took the snorkel trip for half day through the hotel around the island. The first stop the snorkeling was fantastic but the other 3 stops were over crowded with too many boats and people. The water was not clear and the coral so dead it was very sad to see, like swimming in a graveyard with no colors left at all. Even the large clams that usually have this brilliant blue color like infront of hotel or first stop were discolored and brown or just dead. It was heartbreaking.
I read a lot about the stairs at this hotel and being in bungalow 1, we were the farthest away from the restaurant and pool than anyone else. 140 steps to the top. But it was exercise, its good for you and we just laughed when we had to stop and rest along the way.(we are in our 50's). I will say this is not the place for the disabled, but if you can move or should be moving around this is good for you. We took the shuttle to town for water and snacks and took it right back. We ate at the restaurant every night and food was very good. It may cost more than in town but evens out in the end because in town you have to pay 600 tbat to get back to hotel plus the view and atmosphere are perfect at the hotel. On the menu we had numbers 64, 66 and prawns with red curry and chicken with cashews were all great as was their creme brulee. We just loved this hotel!

Room Tip: Room #1 is the best

I cannot rate this hotel enough. It was truly amazing. We booked 4 nights here, but upon arrival and even before getting to the room we extending our stay. The location is in Shark Bay on the south of Koh Tao, its a 10 min taxi ride from the ferry port in a quiet area. The hotel itself is stunning, beautifully set with out of this world views. Staff were EXCEPTIONAL, nothing was too much trouble and they were extremely friendly. All the rooms have panoramic views of the sea, with its own private beach where we saw reef sharks and did some of the best snorkeling i've ever done. It is out of the main area of Koh Tao, but only 10 mins away so ideal for a quiet relaxing retreat. Would definitely stay here again, thanks to all the staff for making it an amazing trip.

We stayed at Jamahkiri for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is absolutely beautiful, and all the structures have been so well incorporated into the surrounding nature. I wish we were planning to build a house because I would definitely ask for the contacts of their architect!

As opposed to many other resorts in Thailand, the grounds and the buildings are also continuously meticulously maintained and kept clean. You won't find any litter anywhere.

The water in the pool and in the sea is so warm that it is almost too warm! Snorkeling is good, and I managed to see the black-tip shark that this place is famous for.

This is not a massive resort with hundreds of rooms and therefore, I can understand that it is not practical for them to have the huge variety of stuff at the breakfast the way some major resorts in Thailand do. So that was a bit of a disappointment, but understandable. The breakfast, however, changes a bit from day to day which is good. The breakfast is quite Eastern-oriented, but we didn't mind that as one of the reasons to come for a holiday to Thailand is Thai food, isn't it?

The resort is a few km out of the commercial centre of the island so you are pretty much stuck to what they can offer for dinner, and yes, I agree, the dinner is a bit overpriced. It is served in a nice environment and is good, but still, a bit pricey. During the day what you can do is that you can hire a kayak and paddle to the next bay where there is a Thai restaurant where you can get excellent Thai food at a third of the price of the resort.

Room was big and very quiet. No disturbing noise at all in the night or during the evenings (as there are no noisy restaurants), and we slept well every night. And yes, there are a LOT of steps to be climbed, but we didn't mind that - actually, it was just good to get some exercise :-)

We will most likely come back!
