Stayed for 3 nights in 3 story family villa with the most beautiful view. The water is clear and turquoise
The swimmingpool area is like a oases in a desert. The cocktail are divine and happy hours is from 5h-9h.
The staff is very friendly and helpfull. My son broke his foot on our trip and they went out of their way to help us.
We missed the boat going to another island and the receptionist quickly organized another boat.
The manager, a friendly elderly man is on top of everything and in control and very friendly.
Our rooms view was the best I have seen.
The room service has big portions and tasty.
Best of all is the snorkeling right in front of our hotel. All the boats came here to snorkel, all you have to do is to take yhe steps and get into the ocean.
The steps to go up and down for breakfast and cocktails was good excersice and good for the heartrate.
Not for elderly unfit people.
I will gladly come back to this paradise.

The grounds are terrific. The stairs are really not that bad - the payoff of having a great view is worth it. The front desk service was very good. Our safe and AC issues were each sorted out within 30 minutes of reporting them.

The pool bar staff (Swe Swe, Mueng (sp?)) were excellent, as was the dive club folks, including the boat crew and Derek the PADI instructor.

If you don't like diving, the snorkeling from the bay is really excellent.

The service fell short in the restaurant. Maybe my expectations were two high after being at a couple other awesome hotels on other nearby islands, but the staff seemed more interesting in chatting amongst themselves than in doing their job, And 50 bhat for water seems ridiculous. If we can't drink from the faucet, it seems wild to be expected to drop that amount of coin for a necessity of life. Also, one night my wife had mentioned that it was my 30th bday, so they staff brought me a slice of cake, which was nice. I was less than impressed to find out that it was the most expensive dessert on the menu and i had to pay for it.

The breakfast selection and service are both poor.

Wi-fi isn't available in the pavilion rooms, which is pretty silly. With a bit of know-how, you will notice that nearby hotels have made some poor IT choices and you shouldn't have a problem bumming from their wireless network.

At any rate, the hotel is sharp, the view is great. The pool bar folks are good, but the restaurant folks are lacking all day long. If you stay here, I'd suggest trying the Eagle view restaurant. It's an interesting experience and the price is closer to what you'd expect.

My family chose this place for its diving. It is set into a cliff and the view is spectacular. For diving, it was very good and the course was well organised. The hotel itself is quite nice but the breakfast was average. Dinner was quite good but relatively expensive given the standard and service. The rooms were pleasant but room cleaning was very late in the afternoon. For those who like to have a rest in the afternoon, it is extremely annoying to go back to a room that hasn't been cleaned. The hotel is reached by a very steep narrow road which is a bit daunting. There are over 100 steps to walk up from the rooms nearest the sea to reach the pool, restaurant and reception. This definitely requires a certain level of fitness. Not recommended for the elderly or those with poor mobility. The beach is reached by a small boat. It is just a short distance away and guests can go back and forward as they wish. Overall it was a pleasant stay but if you are not a diver, you may struggle to find something to do after a few days.

Beautiful, quiet and romantic resort, excellent food, very helpful staff.
Mostly for snorkelling and diving.
Not kids friendly beach as no gradual ocean entry with lots of rocks and coral.
Need to take a 5 mins boat ride to beach next door if you wish to sunbathe on a sandy beach.
Town (restaurants, bars, market) is 10 mins away by taxi, 30 mins walking on dirt roads.
Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Resort built on cliff, significant amount of stairs -steep climb of at least 150 stairs- to reach po...

My friend and I winged it for my birthday and stayed here. It was amazing! Full ocean view everywhere in the room, and great balcony to view the ocean in all it's glory! Very beautiful views everywhere you walk around the resort. Very friendly staff. The only thing to note is that most restaurants bars etc you need to take a taxi too. It was around 500 baht every time one way. It's worth it if most the time you're going to be at the resort as I does have everything you need. Great pool too!! Definitely want to come back!!

Beautiful resort and fabulously empty during low season (Mid May). Felt like we had the entire place to ourselves with the exception of a few other couples. Rooms were spotless, service was friendly, food was awesome, daily free breakfast top notch! Special shout out to the night time pool area bartender, he was awesome and returned our snorkeling masks to the front desk so we didn't have to climb the stairs.

oh that...stairs. There are a LOT of stairs at the resort. Not exactly wheel chair accessible.

the spa - was OK, not exactly what i'd call top notch or 5star resort worthy, but decent. save your money, enjoy the pool and private beach instead!

Thing to note - Most of the employees at the Jamahkiri are from Burma/Myanmar and are paid very low wages, work at least 10 hour shifts and the worst? They get TWO days off a month. Thus, the term "weekend" does not exist for them. The resort is taking advantage of them.

Room Tip: Stay on the 4th or 5th floor to avoid stairs

We have stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in an ocean view double room. The hotel and room are excellent; with very good and delicious breakfast, excellent ocean view from the room; friendly ad helpful staff; convenient to have snorkelling at shark bay.

We have also tried the SPA; overall the SPA is good, though not excellent.

However, the only bad thing is that there is no convenient store / other restaurants nearby. If you don't rent a motorbike during your stay, you may have to take their shuttle, which there are only a few time slots each day, or take expensive taxi in Koh Tao.
