“Breathtakingly beautyful!”
Reviewed 13 September 2010

Came to jamahkiri hotel mostly for the spa-experience, but when we arrived we saw that it was alot more than that.
Amazing views over the thai-gulf from the room, and the room also had a very high standard. Except for some very ugly pink tiles in the bathroom. A bit untasty....
It also had access to a private beach and the staff was very friendly, informative and helpful.
The spa was an incredible experience and the girls that worked there really knew what they were doing. Had a 4hour treatment and it made us healthier people.... :)
The food in the restaurant was also very good. Very delicate and tasty.... Maybe a bit overpriced. Actually, everything was overpriced. Only negative thing I can think of is that I asked for some water during the spa-treatment and I had to pay 95baht for a bottle after sitting a sauna for 20 minutes, a aloe-wrap for 30 minutes, a 2 hour massage and about an hour of facial treatment. It´s a really nice experience but it makes you really thirsty. Water should be included when the treatment costed 3000bath.

Anyhow, it´s an incredible hotel and we recommend it to everybody who has some extra cash to spend.

We have just returned from Thailand and stayed at Jamahkiri for one week at the beginning of August. Our accommodation was a deluxe pavilion - beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean with superb views of the sea and the little neighbouring cove. From our balcony we were able to see the sharks cruising in the water below! The pool was lovely, commanding great views again. Breakfast was a fabulous selection of fruit, cereals, bread/pastries, meats and cheese form the buffet - eggs cooked freshly to order. Dinner was excellent, we particularly enjoyed the fusion food prepared by the friendly French chef. All the staff were charming, attentive and went out of their way to offer very good service. We were impressed by the manager who took a personal interest in all the guests. We had 3 treatments in the spa - all of which were skillfully performed and wonderfully relaxing. The snorkelling trip on the Jamahkiri boat was great fun and worth doing. We would also recommend a visit to the Eagle's View, a local family run place just opposite the entrance to Jamahkiri, for a cheaper beer and a breathtaking view over the beach, headland and woodland below. Jamahkiri is not a budget resort and the prices reflect that, but we felt that we got excellent value for money and found the peace and relaxation we were looking for as an essential component of our summer holiday.

This place was really outside our budget but we really wanted somewhere special to relax after rushing around visiting the rest of Thailand. I am pleased to say it was worth every penny.

As we were shown around my teenage son couldn't the smile off his face. It is a really magical place, an absolute joy to be in. The architecture, design and landscaping is wonderful, it makes you feel like you're in some great work of art.

I took so many photos of the place as I am very interested in design. The entrance alone is stunning, you enter via the mouth of a cave - fantastic!

The manager is incredibly attentive and can't do enough to help. He wants to ensure everyone is happy and enjoying the place.

The food was top class too, and there's a VIP lounge with books, DVDs, a flat screen TV and computers - handy for the teenagers.

Our snorkelling trip on the hotel traditional teak junk was a great day out where we sailed around the whole island. Lunch was provided on board and we were so fussed over by the staff that we felt like royalty.

Our rooms looked out at the sea and at 7am the shallow bay was full of black tip sharks! So we sat and watched them from our balcony. We did spot some swimmers trying to spot them and boat trips came to search for them, but they would always disappear. The best way to see them is in fact just to look down and watch them from the balcony early in the morning.

Overall it is a very quiet, small, luxury resort with stunning architecture - can't recommend enough

We spent 8 nights in Jamahkiri resort and it is one of our best souvenir in S-E Asia.

The place is a little paradise far from the crowd, nested in an amazing environment of huge roundes rocks, emerald water and little side beach with white sand and coconuts trees. Like in a postcard...

The food is remarquable, innovative and tasty, managed by a talentuous french Chef who pays a lot of attention to clients satisfaction. Of course, quality has a price.

The staff, driven by a considerate manager, is lovely, naturally smiling, extremely polite, taking care of details to make your stay as agreable as possible.

The original architecture fits quite well with the beauty of the place, except for the new building on the right which does not appear on the leaflets.
Our bungalow was very nice, better than on the pictures, comfortable and with an outstanding sightseeing.
Both swimming pool and little marina downstairs are also very nice.
However if disabled you might meet troubles with the steps as the resort is built on a cliff.

Among attractions are the little (and not dangerous) sharks patrolling around us on the reef, the splendid corals and colourfull fishes at Aow Leuk Bay (less than 5mn with the resort shuttle boat or 15 mn in kayak). Both can be enjoyed by snorkelers and scuba divers.

The place is quiet, exquisite and recommend it if you look for calm and high quality service in a wonderful environment.

The resort is very clean, gardens are splendid and maintenance was perfect.

We've just had 7 nights at the Jamahkiri. From the moment we arrived I knew it was going to be ok, (I dostress bit over chosing hotels). Warm greeting from the hotel manager and staff, typically Thai in their friendliness and attentative in a really balanced way. The service was consistently great, every interaction we had was handled perfectly, no matter who we were dealing with.

But for me what actually sets this place apart is the overall design and layout. Its simply spectacular in places, huge boulders have been incorporated into spaces such as the restaurant, the swimming pool areas and walkways. Its stunning. I've travelled a lot, and it rivals anything I've seen anywhere. The steps could be an issue for anyone who is infirm, or has real issues with walking up hills. But we enjoyed them, as a reasonable bit of exercise in an otherwise lazy holiday.

I'd also mention the resorts situation in Shark Bay is very special and provides those views that make you just want to stop and take it all in, the cove is simply beautiful.

The restaurant food is fantastic, the French chef is very very good. I'm not much of a 'foodie' but even I could see that for quality, presentation, etc. the standard of food is a level above most places. Nice little touches like all bread is home made, so are the jams etc. Even potentially mundane offerings like cheeseburgers on the pool side lunch menu were amazing. Everything's done with a bit of extra flair.

As one extra bonus, in the early mornings you could see small reef sharks in the bay, we'd stand on our balcony and watch them. They're beautiful, (very timid though, you won't get near one - my husband tried).

We got a 'pay for 6 nights, but stay for 7 nights' deal and I thought it was good value.

By the way, in the past we also stayed at the Sensi Beach, its nice, authentically Thai, cheaper, more centrally located, - and I preferred this place.
