“Island Paradise - brilliant palce, great meals, lovely staff.”
Reviewed 4 July 2010

We spent 9 nights at Sensi Paradise and chose this over the next door resort which is 'Charm Churee'. We travelled to visit our daughter who works on the island as a diving instructor and took our son who is 21. Our daughter went to both 'resorts' and declared this the best. Having seen the other reviews we were prepared for a poor breakfast but unless you are a coffee drinker (only one cup) we saw no problems. True this wasn't a buffet style breakfast but the options of a couple of eggs cooked in different styles with either bacon, or sausage or ham together with toast and jam was more than enough for us. We chose English breakfast tea and each had our own pot. Our favourite was the muesli with fresh fruit and yoghourt - delicious and presented by a very friendly restaurant staff led by 'Ping -Pong' (honestly). Little extras like a pot of tea and biscuits delivered to the room every afternoon and an English language newspaper (Bangkok Post) made it a bit more special. A fan on the verandah and a brighter light in the rooms would have been nice but hey - you can't complain about these minor short comings. Air Con however has got to be a must! Our house (26) had air con and two fans . The restaurant had excellent meals and was very comparable, price wise, with those in town. The pools are amazing. If the website says no availability it's worth a phone call to the hotel. The website told us the re was 'no availability' - however ittranspired they had plenty of space.

Stayed here for 2 nights in June. We had been staying on Sairee beach on Ko Tao but found that Sairee has become so much busier and noisier in the last couple of years since our last visit and so we moved on to Sensi instead in a bid to find some peace & quiet.

We phoned ahead and were advised there was a garden view room available for 2,500 baht (roughly £50) per night. The lady warned us over the phone that it was a good 1 min walk to the beach and so we didn't expect anything too spectacular.

A representative from the resort came to pick us up from Sairee beach for free and on arrival at Sensi we were given 2 complimentary drinks while we checked in which was a nice touch.

We were blown away by our garden room villa. It was a teak bungalow on stilts with a huge veranda for sitting out on. It was situated in the forest but definitely less than 1 min to the beach and we could even still see the ocean through the trees. We had aircon, hot water, complimentary slippers and dressing gowns, beach bag, sarongs, fruit bowl and 2 free waters per day. I particularly liked the fact that they provided water in glass bottles in a bid to become a totally plastic-free resort.

The 2 swimming pools were very nice for swimming / lounging around in the day time but also there is a shipwreck from the 1950s just off the rocks on the beach. The snorkelling round this shipwreck was absolutely phenomenal and we saw more fish than we had seen on a previous snorkelling trip on Ko Tao. We saw shoals of 200+ parrot fish and christmas tree worms, sea urchins etc. The resort loans snorkels, flippers, life jackets etc. It's definitely worth venturing off shore and doing the snorkelling - we were bowled over by it. The sea is pretty murky straight in front of the hotel but if you clamber over the rocks to the left the water is much clearer and it's a good entry point into the sea for snorkelling.

The restaurant was quite nice - beautiful views but we were put off slightly by the over-friendly guy who oversees the restaurant. He doesn't wait tables but I think has been brought in as an English speaker. He was a little intrusive and hovvered round our table for the entire duration of the meal. He was probably only trying to be friendly but it was overkill and we couldn't have a conversation without him butting in! As a result we didn't eat here in the evening but instead went to Whitening further down the beach. The food here was phenomenal and I would definitely recommend going there instead of eating in the resort. We did eat breakfast at the resort as it was included in the price. I found it to be very nice - good presentation.

Sleep quality was pretty poor owing to a couple of squirrels who took to jumping around on our roof throughout both nights. I wasn't too concerned about this though as we had plenty of napping time during the day.

I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend our bungalow (no 12). The forest location was peaceful but you could see the ocean. I personally wouldn't have wanted a poolside bungalow or an ocean view as I think these would have less privacy. It was pretty amazing having drinks on our veranda in an evening and listening to the cicadas and watching the crazy squirrels from outside our room.

I thought that the 2,500 baht price tag was a bargain given the high standard of accomodation. Would definitely recommend as a romantic getaway.

This was our 3rd visit to Sensi in the last 5 years. It just gets better each time.....They have a gorgeous new swimming pool with a waiter service bringing the loveliest food/drinks to you on your sun lounger. The grounds are beautiful with the biggest butterflies I have seen and the staff and there are many, see to your every need.,and always with a smile. The wooden Houses/Bungalows are great and very atmospheric.

Koh Tao is Beautiful, and Sensi Paradise is Perfect, except for the breakfast.
We arrived for the second week of our holiday, and after boing very dissapointed with Koh Samui we were amazed by Koh Tao. It truly is Paradise. Sensi Paradise is beautiful, our room was beautiful (318) , the beach were rocky but amazing, the gardens are amazing. the pool is fantastic, all great so far.
We ate in the restaurant that night and the food was delicious.
We went to bed and it takes a little while to get used to all of the noises, but is great.
The next morning we headed for breakfast, and was disappointed by the minimal choice and offer of 1 cup of coffee, all in all it was a very 'tight' offering for a not cheap resort, in fairness this was the only thing that we would complain about, everything else went beyond expectation.
Sensi is well situated on this small beautiful island, i have read some complaints of it being too close to to ferry pier, do not let these reviews put you off, we never noticed it was there.
You should not miss Ya Ku Zen, a japanese restaurant in walkings distance to Sensi, amazing view and better food. Make sure that you book or arrive very early.

We spent 4 nights at Sensi Paradise and loved it. Yes, the room doesn't have a cupboard but there were baskets to put things in, so that wasn't an issue. We had a romantic seaview chalet, which had an outdoor bathroom - once you get over the "fear" of someone watching you, it was a novelty to shower outdoors which we really enjoyed.
The verandah was huge with a daybed and a view over the bay to Nang Yuan Island. Boats were a bit noisy from 6am but we were close to the pier area, so to be expected. I was always awake but hubby never heard them!
The resort is conveniently situated, as you can easily walk to Mae Haad, Sairee and south to Janson Bay. I didn't really like the big beach near the restaurant area as the water looked "green with algae" but swimming from the smaller beaches was better.
The pools are beautiful and clean so a good place to cool off after a day out snorkelling. We didn't eat at the resort, preferring to walk to Sairee for a night out of food and shopping.
No buffet for breakfast, only a menu which you could choose 1 item - a pity as most hotels in Thailand have such good buffets.
We would certainly go back.

This was my favourite hotel in Thailand by a long way. We were greeted with complimentary cocktails and a porter carried all our bags up the path to our beautiful secluded bungalow.
While we were there we loved snorkling in the bay, complete with its own massive ship wreck! Also hired boats from a place on the beach, loved the short walk to bars/restaurants and hired cheap motor bikes to get around the island.
The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL even tho a little pricey compared to other local ones but right on the water and very romantic :)
The pool was incredible. Wow. Massive, with two split levels and little cascading ponds. Every day we ordered cocktails and food in the afternoon and sat around the pool. Amazing.

On our initial check in we were a little concerned and shared views of previous reviewers. That all changed within then next 2 hours and fell in love with the place. Rooms are dark but comfortable and very clean. We had room 23A and 23B. Huge balcony area and very close to beach and restaurant so not big hill to climb to room. No wardrobe so would have been difficult if were staying longer than our 3 nights but had an amazing outdooor bathroom which was a great experience and no creepy crawlies. A great view to wake up to. Beach area a little small but very nice. Pool area amazing! Really clean and lots of loungers. Restaurant one of the best we ate at in Thailand, perfect setting and staff were very helpfull and friendly. Ferry from Koh Samui very easy and staff on board very helpfull with luggage etc. Book ferry day before as ets very busy. Had longtail boat for day round Kao Tao island for 2000 baht. Great day out. Would recommend hotel to anyone who likes a bit of luxury with a bit of rustic Thailand. Cant wait to go back!
