A Different Kind of Resort in a Good Way

Review of Sensi Paradise
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Mar 2024
This was a very interesting resort. A nice stay. Beautifully set on the waterfront and peaceful. The bungalows are rustic and charming and the swimming pools are terrific. Breakfast is good and the views overlook the beautiful water. The location of the property is ideal, it is very close to town and many restaurants. No television, but sometimes it's good to be without one for a while. Staff is nice and friendly.

Room Tip: When signing up for a snorkel tour, do not go with Diamond Tours, they are the worst.

Our stay at Sensi was perfect from start to finish. We were met at the pier and taken to the resort to be welcomed with an ice towel and cold drink. Immediately, we felt welcomed and at home. Our 'tree house' was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed. They supplied shower gel, shampoo and body lotion, dressing gowns and slippers, along with fresh towels daily, beach/pool towels and sarongs. Our veranda was spacious, complete with comfortable furniture, fridge and tea/coffee station. I loved waking early and sitting out there listening to all and watching all of the wildlife. If you have mobility issues, definitely ask for a bungalow close to the beach as some of the paths are steep.
The staff were some of the kindest people I have ever met. They work incredibly hard and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options and a beautiful view of the beach. The restaurant food was fantastic too. The pools were perfect and very much needed to cool down!
We loved the location, close to everything you could want, yet far enough away to not be disturbed by noise.
We booked a private longboat through Sensi and snorkelled around the island. Our captain was JoJo. He is the sweetest man with an excellent sense of humour; interacting with us, taking photos for us when we were in the water and teaching us about the fish and island. We laughed all day and the views and snorkeling were breathtaking. Thank you JoJo!
I don't have anything negative to say about this resort. It truly was perfect for us and I missed it when we moved on. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Thank you for making our stay such a memorable one.

Yes it’s a little dated no tvs in room, showers old fashioned , reception staff rude….but wait until you meet the staff in the restaurant they make your holiday they are so warm and gracious. They are not Thai they are all Burma who have fled to make a living in Thailand . They make you feel so welcome they will help you in any way they can their service is 5*. Breakfast is a choice of different items they will also cook you fresh eggs if asked. Throw some bread into the sea and you will be amazed at the different fish you will see. They have a lunch menu to nibble on while in the evening a great choice from Thai, western , seafood BBQ or even a Mongolian BBQ where you cook your own food at the table. Excellent food in the restaurant.
The beach is one of the best this part of the island it’s small but cleaned every day by the staff and the sea is calm here. Walk along the other side of the town and it is very rough waves. So many bars /restaurants/dive shops/tattoo artists you will see why it’s best to stay at the Sensi Enjoy its peace and tranquility at the hotel.
You can either walk the beach into town about 15 mins , where the port is , passing lots of small bars and restaurants or take the back street where you will find small shops and local stalls. There’s plenty of small supermarkets 7/11 selling western items. When you see all the motor bikes and tourists you will head straight back to the hotel for peace and quiet. We would definitely return …love Koh Tao

Room tip: Sit back, relax and enjoy this little spot

I see the mixed reviews but I have to say I was happy with my stay. I went to this hotel knowing this place was not 5star (it is 3star) and I only stayed 1 night and would recommend. It was very cute up in the trees a short 5 minute walk from main area street. I agree the rooms could do with some modernising and adding some more lights as it is quite dark but generally it’s a very cute hotel with a lovely pool and small private beach. If you’re staying with kids and plan to go up and down a lot to main road I’d probably book somewhere else as it is quite steep to get to but if you’re a couple who want a tree tops get away for a 1-3 nights it’s ideal.

Room tip: I would pay a little extra for a room looking into pool or sea for some more light

This has to the worse place I have ever stayed in Thailand. I truly cannot understand how they can charge this much for this hotel. Very clever photography makes the rooms look cute in the pictures however please don’t be fooled, they are just dark wooden huts. There is no wardrobe in them, only a small wooden peg to hang a couple of items ( pic included) Even with the lights on the huts never get light which makes getting ready challenging. The staff are disinterested and also dishonest (trying to overcharge for things or adding items to the bill)
I only ate breakfast here which was pretty awful, so cannot comment on their evening meals.
The paths around the complex are dark and uneven so certainly not suitable for young children or anybody with mobility problems.
There are so many better places to stay than here,
The management of this hotel should be ashamed

Room tip: Avoid this place entirely.
