I stayed here in 2007, and again in december of 2011. Lets take the bad things first and end with the good. Firstly, you have to like stairs to stay here, and you will probably be swimming mostly in the pool, as the nearby beach (due to ocean currents) is quite littered. There could be more sunbeds at the pool. And now the good things: the rooms (butique in our case) are clean, stylish and generally just really nice. The pool is clean, well maintained, and the view from there is priceless. The food is good, both breakfast and dinner, and they serve my favorite dish, pad see eew. The gardener is a miracle worker, and the whole resort is a lush jungle. The animal life at the resort itself is impressive. In the grounds we saw landcrabs, fruitbats, praying mantis, see-eagles, and giant barking gecko. The reception staff during our stay spoke fluent english, and were really really helpful. If you brave the rubbish at the beach and swimm south or north, there is actually a nice reef with a lot of see life. From our balcony (on the day we left) we saw whalesharks and loads of dolphins on this reef. If you walk in, you cam ask for a discount and get quite a decent one. I don't know if this goes for reservations too.

We liked the privacy of our room and the private layout of the rooms throughout the resort. We liked the pool area and views from around the resort.
But the negatives were the restaurant and breakfast was really poor quality, there were a lot of creepy crawlies in our room so you need to be a real nature lover to not be bothered by it, the staff spoke very little English which was difficult to communicate and they often got our breakfast requests wrong, and you need to be very fit to stay at this resort, as most of the rooms had between 100-200 steps up the mountain between the rooms and the Reception/Pool/Restaurant area.
The resort has a lot of potential, but the negatives would not encourage me to stay there next time I was in Koh Tao

It's not bad.. and not good - but definitely over priced. The best way to describe it is I think it would have been really nice 20 years ago, but it's a shame they haven't touched it since then. The staff were nice enough and the room amenities fine, but the whole separate bathroom to bedroom thing is very odd. You have to walk outside your room - be clearly visible to the rest of the resort - to use the loo. All in all, just a very strange experience.

I expected a lot more for this price tag. Let me be clear, the place is beautifull, but that is because of the spot, not the resort itself.

The staff is friendly, but had no mandate to give great service which should be essential for this price tag

The rooms are nicely designed but are quite poor of quality. The rooms are badly lit, balcony doors do no close properly and is is impossible to make you room dark so you will have daylight in your room at 6 AM

The food quality of the restaurant is OK, but again: the service is poor. Breakfast is OK but again: all poor.

Swimming pool is very very small, too few beds around it. The whole pool area is not attractive at all. After 5 minutes you want to leave again

We stayed here with two children (12 and 7 years old) but this is no place for them. In fact, it is somewhat dangerous. You can not leave them out of your sight or leave them in the pool alone. The pool is an infinity pool, but at the end of the pool, there s a cliff of about 10 meters. With some bad luck they swim directly from the pool into the cliff...

When the price would be half or less, I would recommend this place, but now it is simply too expensive for what you get

Such a wonderful time here!
We stay at Garden Villa number 3 with the balcony, where is not far away from the restaurant and reception area. The resort is very nice, friendly staff and friendly pets, dogs & bunny. Great pool and good breakfast.. Most of the service outside is speak English, it’s better to ask the information from the resort before going out. Sun block (SPF 50 and up every 3 hrs) and motorbike rental (about THB 150 a day exclude gas) are most recommended at Koh Tao!!
Thanks for the one of great memories in our life

A little bit secluded, the resort is set facing the sea on a steep mountain, hence a breathtaking view over the bay. Rooms and pool are nice, an altogether good experience. However, although the front desk was always helpful, the service at the restaurant, wherefore for breakfast or dinner, could be improved to the level expected for the price and standing of the resort

There are some lovely features at this place: the gorgeous infinity pool and the beautiful views from the bedroom balconies but overall we felt it was over-priced. The atmosphere was stuffy and the staff seemed false and money-grabbing - very different to other places we have stayed in the Thai islands. Good place but wouldn't rush back. Breakfast was nice.
