I booked a room with A/C after asking the dive shop I was diving with (New Way Diving - which were great too!) for a few recommendations that were close by. I'm really glad as this was a really nice (brand new) guest house. It's a little more expensive which keeps the dirty, party kids away.
The rooms were spotless and the bathrooms were clean. They cleaned the room every other day which was fine for me. The shower (with hot shower which is rare on Ko Tao) is in the same room with the toilet and sink, but there is plenty of room. There is also a balcony with a towel rack if you needed to let clothes dry outside.
Added bonus - there was a fridge in the room. There was a TV, but there was only 1 English channel so I never used it. The WiFi was strong so I just watched a few things on my computer if I was in the room - but there was so much to do outside the room or at the beach.
The location was perfect as it was close to more of the authentic Thai restaurants and a 3-5 minute walk to the beach and all the loud bars. So if you actually want to sleep at night, this is a great location as you can go out to the bars, and then come back to sleep and it wasn't a long walk up the beach or a dark road. I was traveling on my own and felt very safe walking around.
In addition, the woman that ran the guesthouse was so sweet and helpful. If I was to come back to Ko Tao, I would stay here again for sure.
