Our family of four spent five glorious nights in two adjoining bungalows on the rocks overlooking stunning Sai Nuan 1 beach (Siam Cookies and Banana Bar are next door at Sai Nuan 2). This place is perfect for anyone looking to completely get away from it all. We could have stayed forever!

The bungalows at Sai Thong are very basic, like camping, but charming but this was exactly what we were looking for. With such natural beauty all around you there isn’t any need for luxury digs. There is electricity, a fan and a mosquito net (although the mattresses are very hard). Our bungalow was ocean view on the rocks with the sea lapping underneath our balcony and it was sheer bliss swinging in hammocks watching the sun set in total paradise and listening to the ocean and the sounds of nature.

Sai Thong is the only resort at Sia Nuan beach and has some of the best snorkelling on the island, you just step into the water and its all there in front of you, but the tradeoff is the sand on the beach is sharp and corally so recommend wearing dive shoes (especially for kids). The sand isn’t powder soft like it is on Sairee. We also recommend hiring a longtail (only 1,900 baht for the day) to take you on a day trip around the island to visit other snorkelling areas as opposed to taking an organised tour.

Kho Tao is renowned for snorkelling and the fish in particular are absolutely incredible, like swimming in an aquarium full of fish everywhere. We were even treated to a spectacular experience one night watching a swarm of baby black tipped sharks swimming along the shores at Sai Thong outside the Banana Bar, and the next day a much larger one swam up to us while snorkelling at the resort. Its an incredible place.

However if you are craving civilisation, you can catch a longtail to town for 100 bht ppx and walk to Sairee or it’s a 25 minute walk from the resort (be warned it is very steep so do it early in the day!). For something a bit different, we recommend getting up early and walking in the other direction to View Point Resort for an exquisite fine dining breakfast experience. This uber exclusive resort is the polar opposite to Sai Thong!!! Yet the staff welcomed us into their restaurant, which is a beautiful open pergola on the water overlooking Chalok Bay where we had the most decadent breakfast of poached eggs with fresh crabmeat and sautéed potatoes washed down with the best coffee we’d had in Thailand! It was incredibly good value for fine dining, and a real treat after the long steep walk from Sai Thong.

We had a perfect stay at Sai Thong and we would return in a heartbeat. This place is paradise.

Room Tip: if travelling with a family and want to be right on the beach ask for two adjoining double bungalows rather than the large family rooms as the large family rooms are not on the beachfront - cost is only marginally more and totally worth it.

Initially I booked 4 nights, but I stayed 9 because I was definately enjoying the piece and quiet of the scenery. The staff is super friendly and helped me with everything i asked for. The restaurant is the best of the ones that spot had to offer (the other two there were small portions and no smiles from the staff). The road to town is quite beautiful, and the beach is what you see on paradise pictures. And pretty sunsets as a cherry on top. Also the water is crystal clear, so snorkeling is a really nice experience.

Some "side notes"
- if you want to party, go somewhere else
- the beds are hard, and so are the pillows
-there are nightly visits of rats if you leave your snacks out (duhh)
- if you are coming with heavy bags from the ferry i HIGHLY reccommend spending those 300 baths on a taxi boat!!!! Its worth it in the end.

This is not a five-star all inclusive. Don't bother if thats what you want. You will not be pampered here.

We stayed at the beginning of March 2014.

Rooms: Choices are On the Rocks, Beaches, on the Hill. We stayed on the beach, would highly recommend that or the rocks. Rooms are simple, double bed, mosquito net, fan. There is electricity. The bathroom is outside and therefore you might run into a critter or two. Bring your own toiletries. Condition of the rooms was not the greatest but acceptable. A few holes in the roof, our slider latch to the bathroom didn't have a little knob so you had to jimmy it a bit. An issue with the water hose by the toilet. Maintenance came and fixed it no problem.
There is no ac. Open up the windows at night and you'll get the nice sea air coming in, fantastic. In the morning it ended up being a bit chilly even!

Staff: Very friendly and accommodating, very well spoken in English. Will help you with whatever you need!

Food: Amazing, but a little overpriced as people have stated.

Beach: Awesome! Lots of great snorkelling around and the beach is nice, clean and relaxed!

Would definitely recommend!

Room Tip: Choose the rocks or the beaches.

me and my partner stayed at Sai Thong this November. We booked 500 baht basic bungalow a little further from the beach. it was basic - with bed (mattress a bit hard!), shelving and fan - all very basic but this is enough if you are not looking to stay indoors all the time. Bathroom was also very basic - but served its purpose. The most amazing thing was the nature that surrounded us - geckos, birds, insects, lizards. You can also enjoy clear waters, snorkelling is as good as in the special places where they take you during the tour. I have even seen the sea turtle in the area of this resort.
Food is good as anywhere else in Thailand.
I would recommend this resort for more adventurous people who love nature.

Stayed for 7 nights in a basic bungalow with fan, no hot water but electricity.
The beach and snorkelling are outstanding and your right on them, towns a good 25 min walk but only need to go is to buy a good snorkel kit.

Staff were very relaxed and friendly, restaurant is cheap but excellent.
Bed was hard and wifi only works by reception in the restaurant.
Excellent place to relax and chill out.
Would stay again

Room Tip: Booking a room is much cheaper in person or over the phone, you can get a great deal as opposed to the website.
