This is a quaint, typically old style Thai wooden House on the river. It is rustic, but comfortable rooms with AC and screens. Had nice ala carte breakfast overlooking the river. They serve beer and wine too. Be sure and take a carriage ride all around town in the evening.

After a fairly chaotic stay in a dorm in Chiang Mai. It was a blessed relief to find reasonably priced private room accomodation does still exist in Thailand. When we arrived it was very peaceful and the smell of the wood was divine! Our first night there was excellent, we slept well and as a result up our stay by an extra night. The breakfast was delicious and well made for the price of the accomodation and they do sandwiches for lunchtime. We stayed in an double/ plus one single ensuite, the finish of the room was high end and very spacious

I now see from many other reviews that excessive sound is an issue. We have discovered this is an issue in all teak guesthouses in Thailand. We were unfortunate to discover this when a family moved into the vicinity the second night. Their kids where left to shout and run around for 30 minutes around 9pm at night. Whilst we wouldn't have found this too much of an issue if a) the parents made a vague effort to teach them to take they voices down a notch and behave appropriately in a hotel or b) it was earlier in the day when we weren't winding down ready for a early morning the following day. It did spoil our blissful stay a little.

This guesthouse is an excellent choice for the budget range. Lampang is off the tourist trail, it is one of the reasons we liked it and stayed longer. There are some excellent cheap thai eats around as well as the tourist geared restaurants. We had no issues with the wifi and we enjoyed our trip to the elephant sanctuary along with a couple of the other guests. We had no problems getting a songthaew to the bus station as there was one parked up outside the guest house.

The teak house makes it feel like a high end hotel, but remember it is a budget guesthouse. A peaceful place by nature so if you have noisy kids or like to make a lot of noise yourself the design of the house makes this a less than ideal place for you.

A very enjoyable cultural experience, if a little sleep deprived, one to try at least once whilst in Thailand!

Room tip: I think room 5 is attached to the owners living area, the light from their tv room could be an issue.

The Riverside Guest house is beautiful to look at, has a wonderful location and a great common area overlooking the water. We had an upstairs room and it was well appointed with its own bathroom, a comfortable bed and a window overlooking the internal garden. Just lovely.

As mentioned in previous reviews, because the building is old you can hear everything from other rooms. We were lucky that the occupants of all the rooms around us were respectful and we had no issues with excessive noise. However, I can see how one loud talker or loud snorer could ruin the experience. We were fortunate but if you are a light sleeper this may not be place for you. Also, if you like to sleep in late this is definately not the place for you because the neighborhood dogs start barking when the sun comes up.

Wi-Fi is available but intermittent at best. We were asked to order breakfast the night before so we foolishly assumed it was included with the room. We were given a piece of paper with some check boxes for ordering but the paper did not have any prices. It was a little shocking to find out that it wasn't included and was very expensive. Lesson learned for us but it is something you may want to be aware of.

Very nice teakhouses with a large communal area. Very clean and rooms tastefully decorated. We stayed at the cheapest room (350 Baht, shared bathroom which was spotless !). Breakfast very expensive but good quality (home made jam is delicious). Unfortunately quite loud due other guests making noise or the owner having a party until 3am with friends. Would stay again due to the special location along the river with a hang out feel. Wifi needs improving as we had issues too trying to book a flight with interrupting connection. B&B serves no food other than breakfast, plenty of cheap restaurants very close, walking street market on sat and sun at the doorstep.

As previous reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is in a good location. The wifi was weak and I had lots of difficulty with signal issues whilst trying to use Skype. In the 4 rooms upstairs, the walls don't go all the way up and thus you can hear everything your neighbours do. I am a light sleeper and this combined with the street noise that started very early made it hard to sleep. The room was small and cramped but this is to be expected for the price. I tried to organise transport through the hotel and they simply told me to wait out on the road for a songthaew. I thought this very poor as it was very clear on arrival in lampang that none of the drivers spoke English. We booked for 3 nights, in the end we left after one because we found it very difficult to find things to do in lampang and my travel companion was sick and wanted some less basic facilities.
