“A warm welcome every day”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

Beautiful and clean hotel, not far from the city centre. Excellent service, excellent breakfast, a warm welcome every day with tea and sweets, and everything always with a personal touch. We loved our stay at the Amulet Hotel. Highly recommended!

This was the best place by far that I stayed in in Uzbekistan (and I stayed in some reasonably upmarket places). The position was excellent, about 200 m from the pool at Labi Hauz. There is a direct mashrutka from the station that stops right outside the hotel. The establishment itself is a 200 year old madrasssa which even has the unrenovated original domed roof! I was greeted with a tea and some Uzbek snacks which was really nice. My room was large, tastefully furnished, clean and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was the best I had, varied and plentiful.

Room Tip: I slept downstairs. The steps up to the second floor are quite steep and would be difficult for a n...

The hospitality we encountered at this small 8 bedroom hotel was wonderful. Our room 2/4 was quiet and comfortable( I cannot understand one of the comments complaining about dogs barking).Snacks and tea were produced each afternoon on our arrival . The homemade breakfasts were wholesome and varied - the apple fritters were out of this world! The family was welcoming on each and every occasion we saw them .They looked after us extremely well and were willing to change our money for us despite not actually offering that particular service.

The hotel was a very short walk from the centre of town - the Minzifa restaurant was extremely good but there is a necessity to book.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms offer splendid views of the courtyard

Booked from Australia based on TA & LP recommendations. The hotel is a converted medressa which is lovely, however...my husband & I encountered problems with the room we were put in (213 & upstairs) which has windows facing the front of the building & the lane/walkway in front. The domestic property across from the hotel has 2 dogs which bark loudly at all hours of day/night (I was woken at 2:30am one morning) + an early morning market is conducted at the rear of the hotel so, whether you like it or not, you are woken by people talking at 5:30am. The staff at the hotel are aware of the problem but they do not warn the guests of this - I thought this was inconsiderate, given that I had booked for 3 nights. Wifi was supposed to be available but reception tended to be fickle so it would often drop out in the middle of my being on the internet or just be unavailable altogether - most annoying. The tariff is USD70/night here - I think that management should reduce the tariff for this room & pre-warn their clients.
Location-wise, the hotel is only a short walk into Bukhara central/Lyabi Haus. Breakfast is generous. Tea/chay & sweetmeats are complimentary & we enjoyed that on a tapchan on the upper floor overlooking the courtyard. Dinner is available only for a large group & it needs to be pre-booked. Rooms are tastefully furnished. Miniscule TV provided with very little to watch in English anyway. Bar fridge useful for keeping fruit, yoghurt & drinks cool. There is a common room on the ground floor with widescreen TV & a small library with books in various languages for your perusal.
I do recommend this boutique hotel but I suggest querying your room location first.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms facing the front of the hotel.

A former medresseh refurbished into an hotel.
Great historical building, lovely decorated and reasonably clean room. we travelled in march and was quite chilled outside ( and inside many other hotels we stayed in uzbekistan) but our room was well warm.
Cons: it is not as well located as other b&bs though it is just 5 mins stroll to the main square.
On top of that, price was very reasonable: best place we stayed in uzbekistan.

A unique experience to stay in this lovely hotel - beautiful building restored from as mall madrasah. I really enjoyed sitting do nothing at the courtyard.
Great location, very close to the main tourist destination Lyabi Hauz.
Excelent breakfast for a small hotel.
We stayed for 2 nights only - love to come back again. One of our favourite hotel so far.

I booked this not really knowing what to expect. It was a bit difficult to find because the sign is very small. But what a gem! Walking through the entry everything was beautifully presented and we were welcomed with tea and snacks. In fact we had the same tea and snacks every day, free of charge. As well as a good internet connection, comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms with lots of hot water and secure parking.

For us this place was perfect, and we really enjoyed being in Bukhara due to this hotel.
