This boutique hotel is a retreat away from the bustle of Bukhara. Decorated in Bukharan style and tastefully appointed with Uzbekistan crafts, it is a visual feast. The staff are attentive and unobtrusive. The maintenance and room cleanliness are superb. We greatly appreciated the quiet and comfort of the hotel after several nights in more spare environments.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to be off a central courtyard. Some appear to have more light than others.

At first, this small hotel gives an average impression, as the entrance is on a small mud street (though only a couple of steps from the main street), reception is nothing more than a narrow hall with tiles and the rooms are painted with a rather kitsch representation of medieval Bukhara, an odd combination with the lacquered wood of the floor, ceiling and rest of walls. However, after staying there for three days I really appreciated this clean and tidy place. The room was really spacious, as was the spotlessly clean bathroom with the large bathtub. Not all possible amenities are present but still more than expected at this location: soaps, bottled water, hair dryer, fridge and TV. The inner patios and wooden stairs may be a bit complicated for some, but it is the result of joining old houses and gives the place some local charm and privacy. Breakfast did not have a huge selection but was tasty, and service was kind and made an effort. Best of all, you could step out of the door and walk a block to Bukhara's main modern square, and then on to explore the beautiful old town.

Room Tip: Upper rooms require walking up a winding wooden staircase, which could be difficult for the elderly.

This boutique hotel is in the old part of the city within walking distance of many of the attractions. It is in the Jewish quarter and when the residents moved out, others bought the apartments and turned them into B&Bs though this one also has a restaurant for dinner.

There is such charm here. When you walk into your room, be prepared for decoration on every wall. It was quite a shock to see little alcoves each brightly painted in hot pink, neon green, and blue.

There is no safe nor tea/coffee-making facilities, but a refrigerator and television are available. The bathroom has shampoo and a bar of soap, hair dryer, and magnifying mirror.

Free WI-fi is available, and a password is provided. If they turn off the modem, you will need to contact reception, but I found no one there before 7:00 a.m.

Breakfast was a little sparse, but what it lacks in food makes up for in real coffee.

What a delightful oasis in an alley off the main street. Each room opens onto a patio, shared with several other guests. Tables and seating make this a perfect place to catch up with others, have a beverage and use the free WiFi. Each room is unique and the amenities leave nothing to be desired. Another plus - the small shops around the corner where you can purchase the 'I forgots' such as toothpaste or fresh baked bread.

Beautiful rooms although showers are very small. Great outdoor lounge area with free WiFi. 5 minutes walk to all attractions. Staff is helpful and attentive. Breakfast features fresh eggs and fruit. Fresh bottled water us available but expensive so better to buy in mini mart
