“Old place in desperate need of an elevator”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

This place has basic and quite old rooms, although they are clean, at least.

It's cheap and in a good location in the centre of town. However, the place lacks any charm and there is no elevator of baggage staff, which makes checking in on the 3rd or 4th floors a real pain (literally).

It does have free wifi but it oly works intermittently.

I stayed here on Merry Christmast 2013 one night before visiting to the Chau Doc by TNK tour. The hotel is old but cleaned and fast connect internet, for me, that's ok. However, the staff is not good because when i need some support from him, he always ask me about tip. I hate that, one of them, not all. But, i think with 13 usd for 2people 1 night, it is suitable price

This hotel is similar to many iv stayed in at the lower end price bracket in Vietnam the room was basic but clean the bed was ok but small hard pillows and woken before 5am by the obligatory cockerel.

What was well below average was the staff, I don't speak Vietnamese but try my best with hellos and thank yous however don't expect the same back in any language, actually don't even expect a smile.

I would never recommend staying here it was part of a tour.

Had I walked into this hotel to the hostile welcome travelling independently I'd have walked straight back out.

Hotel visited through TNK Travel.
Our room was not nice but clean and with tv and ht water. Laundry was cheap and fast.
But we wanted to book bus tickets to Chau Doc and a guy pushed us to book with him. His price was twice what we eventually get from another hotel who took no comission (saigon can tho hotel).
I don t like to be considered as a walking ATM since I am not. That s why I rate it with a 2.
Poor breakfast also.

We stayed here as part of our 2 day 1 night tour to the Mekong Delta with TNK. Because we only paid $24 for the whole tour and we had had no control over the booking of the booking of the hotel we were prepared for the worst. This was far from the worst but far from the best. We have been backpacking around SE Asia for 3 months booking only budget hotels wherever we go, but thanks to the power of tripadvisor and customer reviewing we have been able to choose some very decent budget guesthouses and hotels, and further recommend them to others. If we had chosen this of our on accord I certainly wouldn't have recommended it to others. Having said that the Hotel was not a total disgrace even though some of the people on our tour were obviously shocked at the standard having presumably been used to much nicer accomodation, for instance, there is simply a small and old blanket to cover yourself with at night. Our room on the 4th floor was old and quite unclean. There was a thick layer of dust on the bottles and cans of drink that formed the minibar. The beds were thin mattresses, there was a gecko in he room when we arived but the worst of all when we first arrived there was a strong smell of poo in the bathroom, almost as though perhaps one of the staff had not long before snuck up there to curl a crafty one out in peace just before we arrived. The staff were pretty useless and we resorted to communicating only through the tour guide whom we felt for as I think no one was really happy. It is located very close to the waterfront however where all the restaurants and buzz is at night. So the conclusion: if booking your 2 day Mekong Delta tour through TNK, perhaps opt to pay a little more for the better hotel option if you are not used to slumming it.

Bear in mind we were booked into this hotel through a budget tour we were on with TNK travel, and fully expected a low standard. This expectation was definitely met. Upon arrival, and throughout our stay the staff were incredibly abrupt and surly, something which we found out through our unwanted wake up call and disturbance to clean our room at 6.40am. The bed was rock hard and the duvet/blanket had no cover so we were forced to use our own sleep sacks. The hygiene was borderline acceptable beyond this although still not as clean as we would have liked. The noise from other rooms carried through the extractor fan quite audibly. The only saving grace is that it is quite central and the TV has some English channels.

It's a roof over your head for the night. Wouldn't linger long at this older hotel with little appeal. Rooms are of good size and the a/cond worked well. I was on fourth floor(no lift)Bathroom was a shower/toilet combination. Hotel is showing its age. Am sure there are better ones in Can Tho. At a clinch would stay again if needed to.
