On a recent private tour of Vietnam my brother and I stayed for a night here having spent the day visiting the former Australian Army locations in the area. We had upgraded from a Superior to a Deluxe room prior to check in. Whilst the hotel looked and felt like it was past its prime our accommodation was quite acceptable and the hotel itself and its facilities - particularly the pool - were fine. The problem was more one of atmosphere or lack there-of. Despite there being good numbers on the beach directly across the road, the hotel itself seemed almost deserted. There also seemed to be little in the way of restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Consequently we ate in the hotel's restaurant where apart from a half dozen or so staff members at one of the tables, we were the only diners.
The hotel is located on the back beach and when leaving Vung Tau the next morning via the front beach, it was immediately obvious that a hotel in this area would have been a better choice. Perhaps it was just the time of the year - April.
