“Good views, nice garden and pool but tired rooms and poor service”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

I can't understand why service and attractiveness of hotels close to Ho Chi Minh is so poor. For the same price, one could get absolute luxury in the capital and very good hotels in Sai Gon. And enough people travel from HCMC to Vung Tau for a weekend away. Perhaps this appeals to more a Vietnamese guest. Anyway, if you have a 'premium' room, you get a great view of the ocean with working boats on it, and a view over the garden and tops of buildings. The room decor is very tired and kitschy. Our aircon was extremely musty and on return to hcmc both of us had head colds and chest infections. The food in the vietnamese restaurant was surprisingly good. You have to put up with loud music and a less than tasteful decor, but I'm a discerning traveller who expects a lot for a 4 star rating. I looked around Vung Tau and the coffee in the coffee shop at the resort is as good as you'll get. And it's a lovely setting looking out to the ocean and with trees if you sit outside. I asked if our free herbal teas could be exchanged or supplemented by black tea bags. No way, you have to buy them yourself in town. Extraordinary, given they have them in the restaurant and coffee shop and it wouldn't send them broke. And that's how I found their general service - inflexible and unable to see that their mandate is to serve customers! My overall feeling is I'm grumbling - I expect more for that price in this country and I will see if there are any places that are more responsive to customers. BUT one good thing is that they rang and ordered our ferry tickets which were delivered to the hotel. A nice and somewhat balancing finish to the weekend.

Room Tip: I recommend going for a villa (premium) if you want to sit out on the balcony. If you are sightseei...

The people here are so eager to serve you with whatever you need. Every single aspect of this hotel was way above and beyond everywhere else. Our rooms are spacious and thoughtfully laid out. Service is fantastic and friendly without being too in your face or overwhelming. This was our special trip -- definitely worth the splurge.

The staff were all very pleasant and willing to help. The room was a nice size and very clean. I have to say I have no regrets and can highly recommend this hotel. It certainly isn’t the cheapest hotel in the area, but it is a very comfortable and well run establishment in a fantastic location.

It started out promising, up the driveway to reception past the restaurant, but after looking closely at the state of the reception i started to anticpate the room experience as the reception was something out of 20 years ago with old brown sofas shoved in a corner. I think the management do their best with this property, but there hasnt been any real money spent on it in years. The rooms were clean but handles were missing from the cupboard doors, no convenient charging points for phones etc (you have to lie your phone on the floor) The bathroom showed evidence of towel rails being removed or altered but instead of replacing the tile that held their fixing, the holes were merely filled. A strange smell from the bathroom too, that couldnt be traced. Couldnt regulate shower temperature or flow of water. Bed however was comfortable. Breakfast served at 6:30am and advertised as finishing at 9:30am! (This is supposed to be a resort!) Buffet looked very average so ate in the coffee shop. Overall feel was a dated hotel trading on its proximity to town, maintained but not improved. I wouldnt bother staying here again.

For the location this resort has defenitely a lot of potential.
The rooms are in poor material quality even if the overall room is quite nice...
Maintenance of the rooms is definetlu an option...
I stayed for one night in a deluxe room with pool view..
The rooms has a nice terrace with table and two chairs..
No way to keep the room cool when you live even for an hour so once you are back it is like a sauna, and takes around one hour to get it cool properly...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here during the xmas week last year (dec2012). Overall we had a really nice time there. The rooms are extremely clean and well furnished, flat screen tvs, mini bar and good a/c. There was a few small problems some could be fixed some could not!!! On the first day we went to the pool which looked like it had not been properly cleaned (greenish slime film around the inner pool walls) we informed the management who apologised and said would deal with it. The next day the pool was immaculate and pleasure to be around and in! The seal around the floor tiles in the shower was broken so every shower resulted in a soaking bathroom floor. They was not able to change our room so this we had to endure!!! The breakfast buffet is very asian and did not really cater for western tastes. omelette, fruit and bread and cheese was ok but the cooked meats were best avoided. Over all a good stay and I would go back but definitely not for the restaurant quality.

Spent few nights at the Seaside resort in Vung Tau. The hotel is beautifully built, the rooms and villas have a nice colonial style, the pool is inserted in the middle and the restaurant has a huge window overlooking the bay. Staff are extremely friendly (as usual in VN) but not efficient at all.

Problem is that is another perfect example on how NOT to manage a hotel.

First impression, we did the check in without problems, got a ridiculous amount of vouchers for breakfast etc that we have to remember and bring to grant access (come on, that's from XIX century).

Room was quite good, no complains on that side, except that once you leave the aircon doesn't work so when you come back it might be a sauna. Tried cheating with all the other cards in my wallet and no joy. xD

A typical: the cleaners woke us up at 7am as they started cleaning the adjacent rooms with a ridiculous voice volume and making as much noise as they could. They also made my room even though it had the DO NOT DISTURB sign hanging at the door. This didn't happen once, but everyday. LOL.

The pool is small but nicely setup. There's about 12 deck chairs to lay down. One evening there was a massive storm and the next morning out of the 1039438101958 staff walking around, none thought about drying the pads where you lay down. Result was they were soaking wet, impossible to lay on. They have a beautiful pool bar, but really badly managed, staff are slow (when there are staff), selection is very very limited (cans of beer or similar), haven't even got a menu,...

Location wise is a lil bit away from the centre but if you don't mind walking is fine. To go to a proper beach you will need a taxi about 7$.

Breakfast was ok, nice omellettes, the rest average.

Oh food in restaurant was quite good, but overpriced for Vietnam. You pay less in similar restaurants in HCMC.

Next time I'll try another resort in Vung Tau.

Room Tip: Careful with rooms too close to swimmingpool if you don't wanna hear constant kid's screamin...
