“good hotel in Vietnamese tourist area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2013

I stayed at this hotel in early March . The hotel is clean amd the rooms are functional, with a balcony and a shower stall bathroom arrangement, On one side of the hotel there is construction of another hotel. so if you book this hotel make sure you specify that you want the side that is free of construction.
The hotel is across the street from what is known as west beach. I stayed Friday to Monday so had a first hand experience of Vung Tau as a Vietnamese , or Ho Chi Minh City get away spot. By mid afternoon the beach started to load up with tour buses, cars, and motorbikes and the party was on. The area is full of hotels, eating stalls , wall to wall people enjoying beach life. Only a handful of western tourists so a real Vietnamese experience.
The beach is busy from dawn to dusk and the streets are jammed. Come Monday its like a ghost town. If you are looking for a swimming pool ( the hotel does not have one) just exit the front door, cross the street and walk about 10 minutes and you will see a beautiful pool that is open to guests at a cost of 70,000 VND or about $3.50US. They have good menu , cold drinks and lounge chairs and tables with a covered area. So if HCMC is too hot and you need a break this hotel is a suitable oasis. Big buffet breakfast. If you want to avoid the crowds go Monday to Friday,
When you exit the Express boat at the dock in Vung Tau, you will be goimg to your right, abouta $5.00 cab ride.

Room Tip: A higher floor if you are visiting on the weekend as they have a restaurant and a banquet hall on fl...

good location and beach across street. But big price swings depending on the night you stay. don't go on Saturday to Vung Tau because it is far more expensive for a hotel. this hotel is nice enough at the lower price. lousy breakfast, nice little lobby bar, clean room and friendly staff. some rooms have good views.

Room Tip: don't stay on a Saturday night-too expensive.

We visited this place in the month of august & stayed there for 2 nights, it was a great hotel belong to a telephone company, though there were a few foreigners only......
Service was good n I remember at the break fast time one guy helped me to find great food dishes.
It was very crowded & most of the travelers were local.
Room had a nice view, n it was clean place though housekeeping came only once to clean the room.
Overall its good hotel at a cheaper price, one more thing please book your room from any web portals to get it cheap if you walk in you get double priced room.

We thought the Green hotel was great value for money. The room was clean, good size with a/c and hot water for shower. Check in and check out were quick and fuss free.
As other reviews state the breakfast was good with plenty of options. Mini bar prices very cheap. We also tried the seafood stalls next to the hotel and found the food delicious, we tried squid and prawns. No set price however so it can be interesting to see how they arrive at final price.
Location was pretty good, with the beach just across the road however we did not feel enticed into the sea having recently been spoiled at Mui Ne. We enjoyed walking along the peninsula however we found the staring by locals at us particularly intense. Saying that people are friendly and one local stopped his scooter for a chat and directed us to places of interest which was much appreciated.

This is a very good hotel in every respect, but the most outstanding thing about it is its kitchen. The breakfast buffet is a treat and, unlike most hotel restaurants, it serves excellent sit-down meals.

The Green Hotel is just across the street from Vung Tau's main swimming beach, "Back Beach." Its rooms are adequate in size, clean, and well appointed. Service is first class.

You can find cheaper hotels in the same area, but I don't think you can find a better one for the price ($35-60 depending on season, etc). If you opt for a cheaper one nearby, the Green usually has a sign outside welcoming the public to their sumptuous breakfast buffet, at a reasonable price. The dining room is also open to the public at other hours.

Friendly staff at reception. We paid 680,000 VND per night (discounted on weekdays) for a deluxe room with a sea view. Room was spacious, clean and bathroom was large with separate glass-enclosed shower. Wi-fi worked sporadically in the room, better in the hallway. Breakfast buffet was included and there's a good choice of Asian and Western options including pho, fried rice, noodles, eggs made the way you want, fresh fruit, fresh juice, coffee, tea and desserts. No pool on-site (they tell you to use one at another hotel for a discounted price) but Back Beach is across the street. Also great seafood stands across the street at night. Taxi to the main strip of resorts / restaurants / bars on Front Beach costs ~70,000 VND.

ONE WARNING: Do NOT take the direct bus from Vung Tau to Mui Ne. There is only one private bus company that operates on that route; ticket must be purchased at the Vung Tau bus station. We took the 12:30 pm bus in February 2012. They 'lost' my luggage on the way, telling me that it fell out of the back trunk of the bus due to a faulty lock. It was eventually located and brought to my hotel in Mui Ne but with valuable items missing and very badly damaged. Use a reliable bus company to return to Saigon first, then go on to Mui Ne from there -- the few extra dollars and hours of travel could save you this aggravation. Some reliable Vietnamese tour guides in Saigon recommended Phuong Trang (orange buses) and MaiLinh (green buses) as good bus companies.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room
