The staff here are very helpful and friendly. Great location with a sea view. Don't bother with the restaurant out front. You can walk along the sea front and just 10 to15 minutes to good restaurants and the ferry terminal. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the sea. No elevator, so go for the first floor

The biggest asset of this 2 star hotel is the excellent location, just 100 metres or so from the waterfront.
But although being quite dated, and quaint, it offers good value with friendly service.
There is no elevator, so be prepared to climb stairs... and then walk some long corridors to get to your room. But then you will pass along the way some very friendly housekeeping staff.
The rooms are big and airy, and bathrooms also generous.
If you hire a bike while in Vung Tau it is held in a garage at the hotel with 24 hr security.
The restaurant next door is quite noisy with locals, especially at breakfast time from around 7am... not a problem to me, but could be to some.
If western fare is more your thing then it's a short walk to some of the town's restaurants offering fish & chips, meat pies, pizza etc.
It's also a short walk to / from the ferry terminal. Taxi would be no more than 25,000d on the meter so be careful not to be ripped off for more.

Room Tip: Front rooms are older but have better views

The Pacific Hotel is centrally located and all taxi drivers know it, although it's really only a 15-minute walk from the hydrofoil ferry on Front Beach anyway. Smack in the midst of all "western" style restaurants and bars around Front Beach (Saigonese locals tend to patronise the hotels and restaurants on Back Beach - which, unlike Front Beach is actually a "real" beach, several kilometres long and a taxi ride across town for about $2.50!). The Pacific is very much "older style", harking back to the days of gov't ownership, with huge, spacious rooms and no lift (but only two guest floors, so not far to climb!). If you're looking for a value-for-money budget hotel in Vung Tau, this has to be one of the favourites!

Room Tip: Hotel is set back from the road so very little if any noise except for occasional parties in the nearby Bia Hoi cafe. But no lift so best to choose 1st floor for convenience.

The Pacific Hotel in Vung Tau is a peculiar building, with an never-ending central corridor and very high ceilings throughout. It feels less like a hotel and something more like an old soviet office building. Nevertheless it has all the basic requirements of a hotel and the price, for Vung Tau, is around the mid range.

The Pacific Hotel, or "Paci" as it is known locally, is located immediately opposite a triangular park, sometimes referred to as Tet park. It's quite central to the front beach area, being between the cable car to the north and ferry terminal south. The hotel is set back off Le Loi street, with cafes either side. Road noise was not a problem.

The room (VIP) was very large and contained the basic accommodation needs - large bed, television, separate bathroom, balcony, wifi, air conditioning and complimentary water. There was no mini-bar. While the room was reasonably clean, it did feel quite old and there were significant signs of wear and tear. The bathroom particularly felt in need of renovation.

All the staff were pleasant and helpful, although their command of English was limited. Overall I feel that the Paci was a reasonable place to stay, although i can't say that it was a highlight of my holiday.
