After almost 5 years i came back to this hotel again, yes it is getting old, they did some furniture upgrade for the deluxe room but many more new hotels are available in this city too
The swomming pool is very big, maybe the biggest in town
Located a bit out from the centre,
Makesure if stay on saturdays as by early morning on sundays at 0630 the big loud speaker will wake you up and street are close a car free day, lots of peoplr jogging and just walking
So try to avoid the street view, choose the swimming pool less noise
The restaurant at the lobby is good with many local food

The hotel atmosphere is very nice, no crowd, no traffic jam, it just nice atmosphere but not far from shopping centres just about 10 mnts drive and taxi blue bird available. Excellent room, i like the new renovated room. Just a perfect location free from crowd but only few minutes drive to shopping centres, perfect to stay for business or family trip, nice sleep.

Room Tip: Rooms with pool garden view are excellent

Location
15-20 minutes drive from airport depending on traffic. Nearby seems to be a main road and offices- there isn't really anywhere close to walk to that is of any interest.
Room
Room on 9th floor was a suite as had a living room that offered a 3 seater couch, two arm chairs and glass table with a smallish TV (32') Plus a telephone. TV choices were adequate with 50 channels, 10-20 of which are in International, from Australia, US and Middle East as well as Asian including local options. The living room was quite spacious with modern decor and some lamps but felt quite bland and cold as no pictures on white walls. The room also contained a guest toilet and sink but with no soap.
In the main bedroom there was a desk with lamp but surprisingly no plugs (only one below TV). An arm chair and small table presumably for TV viewing. The bed was large and comfortable and again same TV with channel choices facing bed. There was a limited mini bar also and a large marble bathroom that offered bath/shower combo. Amenities were adequately hotel branded but no body lotion was provided (was in same brand in another Sumatra city). Water was also limited complimentary to one bottle which compared to other hotels in Indonesia was limited.
Facilites
WIFI works fast when it worked but kept dropping - it was free but voucher included in room but not sure if it is generally. There is a nicely shaped pool but limited sun beds and no bar. Restaurant offered a overall poor selection of foods for breakfast, there was an egg station and too be fair quite tasty Indonesian food but limited international options, also all buffets were left open with flys about and croissants were dry and rock hard -asked for green tea told it is not included as a free option for breakfast (one of the first hotels in Asia to come across this). There was also a bank and bar.
Staff
Staff were friendly enough but did not go out their way to please when comparing with similar standard of Indonesian hotels. They were not rude but poor effort overall.
Overall would choose another hotel if had to stay in this city again, its dated, and of average standard in all areas apart from the nice looking pool.

Aryaduta Pekanbaru is getting a little bit old fashioned and the rooms should be renovated in the future, however, this is fully compensated by the cleaness of the rooms, the well-trained staff and important as well: the price.

Room Tip: take the poolside for a nice vieuw

First, the shower. Its difficult to adjust the water to get a hot/warm one, the old model.
Second, the water got stuck in the sink and flooded outside of shower room.
Third, TV. They put the very old model in the room, poor display quality and also very small size.
Fourth, its hard to find daily product since its too far to go by walking to the nearest convenient stores or malls
Fifth, lighting is bad, no button, you need to directly turn it on the lamp
Overall, im disappointed with this hotel, i won't stay here anymore at Pekanbaru

Am here for business trip. As i write this, i am still here in this hotel. Got a room in the 7th floor, first impression, old hotel. I don't mind with old hotel as long as it maintained well. But apparently it is not, the Air Conditioner doesn't work well, and the room telephone also doesn't work. So i have to go down to the receptionist to reported it. Went out for dinner, and when i left there was a mechanic came to fix the airco & phone. When i came back late at night, i checked to the receptionist, and they said they fixed everything. But when i went into the room, everything still the same. I asked for a room change, but they said it is full, but they will try to move me to another room tomorrow. So meanwhile tonight i will be sleeping in a lukewarm room in 30 degrees weather :(. This is a 5 stars hotel in Pekanbaru, i can't imagine the 4/3/2 stars hotel.
