“Memorable Horas”

This is my first trip to Lake Toba with my two friends. Im glad i choose Horas Family home coz mr Berend & team are very kind helpful. We stayed there from 7th May 2014 till 9th May 2014.I arranged everything including tour and transport through email communication with mr Berend. We were greeted by friendly Hudson from Kualanamo Airport and took us on tour on the way to samosir. Samosir tour was guided by another friendly guy Lewis. We were well taken care by Horas 'Family' from the time we reach Kualanamo airport till back to the same airport. Their homecooked breakfast and dinner is lovely. Even just sitting at the balcony and enjoying the scenery was a wonderful experience for all three of us not forgetting the passion fruit at the balcony. Its a lovely memorable and beautiful experience at Horas family Home. Well done to Mr Berend and team. Thanks for your hospitality.

We stayed 2 nights at Horas Indah during our recent vacation at Lake Toba. It is well located at the heart of Tuk Tuk town about 5 mins walk from the jetty. 6 of us occupied the apartment at 2nd level above the reception. It had with a nice balcony commanding a partial view of the lake & mountains. Upon arrival at Medan airport, we were nicely welcomed by the driver which we arranged through Mr Berend, the owner of our homestay.

When we arrived at the homestay in the afternoon, Mr Berend and Mike welcomed us personally at the gate. They probably spent the next 30 mins going through the homestay details and the facilities we could expected, often with a good sense of humour.

Our room was spacious for the 6 of us. It was clean and there was a full service kitchen if we liked to cook our meals. The water dispenser was a nice surprise - this meant that we need not have to spend extra money on clean water. There was hot water in the bathroom and wifi worked well. We arranged our dinner and breakfast with the homestay. This was a decision which we did not regret. The home-cooked food portions were generous and most delicious compared to the foods we ate nearby.

We spent all our time at Horas and the surrounding Tuk Tuk town taking views of the beautiful lake and mountains before heading back to Medan. Lake Toba & Horas Indah was a great place for relaxation as we were surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.

And of course, the friendly service from Mr Berend and his team made our stay memorable. When we boarded the ferry, Mr Berend and Mike personally waved us goodbye from afar. I thought this was a very nice gesture from them.

Personally, I loved Horas Homestay for the rustic, family-liked atmosphere. For the reasonable prices we paid coupled with great service, I would certainly loved to come back again in future.

had the horas family fish barbeque, it was a sumptuous meal of fishes and crayfish and chicken and satays. more than 10 dishes.

again, top notch hospitality and we were glad we stayed in Horas Family Home again.

Will definitely stay there again on my next visit. Hope to introduce more people to this wonderful place.

Horas Family Home is not merely a homestay, it's a destination itself.

A wonderful place to stay in Tuk Tuk. A group of 7 of us stayed at Horas Family Home for one night and absolutely loved it. Berend and his staff were delightful, and did all they could to make our trip pleasant. The home itself was large and comfortable, and a welcome change from typical hotel rooms. The location at the edge of the lake is great, and we even got to use their boat and kayak. The food was really good and fresh, and everyone was really helpful and accommodating with all our requests. As Berend said, even if your requests are impossible, we'll get them done. And they sure did!

Our only regret was we couldn't stay here longer. Will definitely be going there again in the future. This is surely the place to stay when you're visiting Lake Toba! Thank you Berend and your team for making our stay a really pleasant one!

Room Tip: The Horas Family Home is a great choice as you get an unobstructed view of the lake.

Our family of 5 adults had stayed in Horas Indah in April 2014 but due to time constrain we are only able to put a night there. We are very happy with the services provided as there is even people helping us to take our luggage to the ferry at the jetty and from the ferry to the accommodation. We also ate our dinner and breakfast there, the dishes (bbq chicken and fish, nasi goreng and mee goreng) are very delicious and the vegetables are very fresh. There is also a garden where you get to pluck whatever that you feel like eating and we managed to get passion fruit and strawberries. We also booked a speed boat trip to ambarita and tomok, and the ride too was pleasant where we get to see the scenery of lake toba. Great hospitality from the owners (Mr Berend and wife)
