“THIS IS NOT A MOSQUE. It is something like castle, but today it is close to the main mosque of Tabriz”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2012

Tabriz has been completely destroyed by many severe earthquakes in recent centuries, but the ARK ALISHAH is a place which has survived and is the symbol of Tabriz's resistance.

“Ignored by everyone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2012

The gigantic structure is made of bricks with a history behind it. There was once a very beautiful theater next to it which was ruined. Many attempts were made to destroy and demolish the structure as well! I wonder why one would even think about demolishing it and why this is not protecetd by UNESCO or ...? Definitely visit it and you will be excited by its size.

It is a very amazing place, but I suppose it's not allowed to visit the inside.

“Ruins of a massive Mosque!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2012

Nothings very special for ordinary tourists, but can be interesting for those who like to know more about old structures. It may seem only a ruin but a large history behind.

“Thoroughly Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2011

It is said that the Ark was once the largest brick building in the Middle East, but Tabriz is a notoriously earthquake-prone city and successive tremors reduced this mighty structure to a miserable pile of rubble. All that remains today is one busted-up arch standing in the centre of Tabriz, and you will need to have a much better imagination than us before it will evoke any sense of lost grandeur. Maybe if some gardens were set around it, it might be shown to better effect, but the area is now used as a car park, which robs any last sense of dignity from the Ark. Come with low expectations.
