“Wonderful romantic getaway!”
Reviewed 15 February 2012

We stayed at Chez Eugene over the weekend and had a superb experience! Don't let the location (in a warehouse loft in the commercial area) mislead you. The room was both cozy, yet "high-tech", and very well outfitted. The gas fireplace was wonderful and both warmed the room while also giving it a romantic glow. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had all of the amenities, including top of the line shampoos and creams, large LCD TV, robes and slippers, plenty of plush towels, and a Nespresso machine complete with capsules! The private porch outside had a private hot tub to soak in after a day of hiking or travel, and both chase lounge chairs and a hammoch chair. Other touches included several books on art and other subjects.
The B&B includes an exclusive restaurant run by the young and extremely talented Shahar. The dinner was superb (see separate review of the restaurant), as was the wine, which came from the owner, Arnauld's, winery.
Although there is not much going on in the winter evenings in Mitzpe Ramon, we found an interesting jazz club just around the corner to round out our evening.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend, and highly recommended!!

We spent New Year's Eve 2011 "Chez Eugene". The hotel is small and cosy, the place you want to relax in after a hike in the desert. Rooms are clean and creatively furnished setting the perfect atmosphere for a playful and romatic evening. The restaurant without doubt, fits the match. Staff was very accomodating and helpful but above all the ownwer himself was very friendly and warming to us; a philosopher and wine producer, in other words, as good as it gets!!

Room Tip: The rooms are all cosy and tastefully furnished. Our room had a bathroom and see - through fire plac...

Chez Eugene lacks all of the external trappings of a great hotel: no views, not perfectly located and built within a converted warehouse. All in all a strange setting for a hotel combined with an eco visit to the beautiful Ramon Crater in the Negev Desert. That said, and given the lack of comparable places to stay in Mitspe Ramon, Chez Eugene was a good and unusual choice. It's important to compare it to the other hotels in Ramon before making a decision solely based on this review. Two of the other hotels (Ramon Hotel and Ramon Inn) are closer to town and look more like the standard Days Inn or Holiday Inn. They are also a little less expensive (but not much). The fourth hotel in town, Beseeder is a spectacular eco resort built of stones right to the edge of the crater... but it's pricey! So if you do not want a cookie cutter hotel and don't want to pay for an expensive resort, Chez Eugene is a good alternative.

Chez Eugene is mainly a restaurant. And in this regard, it really shines. I was astounded by the artistry and excellence of their restaurant. I will include a separate review of it - but it was a highlight of our visit to Israel.

The rooms themselves were consistent with the warehouse theme: concrete floors, unusual floorplans, no doors on showers, etc. But they were clean, comfortable and packed with amenities including in our case a remote control gas fireplace and an outdoor private jacuzzi. The staff of the hotel was outstanding and did everything possible to help arrange activities for us.

I was a little discouraged with the location in the old warehouse, especially when there are so many spectacular areas to locate a hotel in Mitspe Ramon. And I would also recommend that they install shower doors because it can get cold in Mitspe Ramon at night! But overall, and especially when compared to the alternatives, we had a great visit.

Room Tip: Each room is different. Highly recommend calling or emailing the hotel in advance to get the one th...

This hotel was our second choice after there were no rooms left in hotel Bereshit. We got lucky to discover a very special intimate place with amazing rooms.

The out door jacuzzi was a real treat so were the fire place and room setting.
The bed matrices were extremely cosie. The room was beautiful.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing but dinner was great and we especially liked the malabi dessert.

Our 4 and a half months old baby came with us and they accommodated us with a comfy and extra safe bed for him.

Service is perfect, and very personal.

All and all we had a fun romantic vacation.

Room Tip: Take one with an outdoor Jacuzzy

This hotel is worth the trip!! we overstayed in mitspe ramon just to sleep in this hotel one more day! the first room we stayed was amazing, fireplace, bathtub, just gorgeous and on the second night we changed to the room with a private terrace with jacuzzi, also beautiful we didn't want to leave! Its such a romantic place with beautiful surroundings, but the hotel also has family rooms with include video games and other things to entertain! Food ad service was great! I wish i could go back there now!!! Best place in Israel for sure!!!

Room Tip: Room number 1 is beautiful, room number 4 is bigger and has a jacuzzi on the terrace!

althought this hotel is situalted in the industrial area of Mitzpeh and the immediate surroundings are a bit grim (piles of building waste nearby, noisy carpenters next door!) once inside you are in a small oasis. The atmospher was very warm and the staff were all excellent. Food was delicious both morning and evening meal. Almost each room has a big jacuzzi in the yard which was a dream under the stary sky at night. inside the rooms, each one different lots of fun. Rain shower, TV with sony playstation, very comfortable beds, electic blinds, very cool heating system. All in all a very happy and pleasnat stay.. shame theres no view as the surrounding area is fabulous. Good location to hike from, Bike, etc...
I would be happy to stay there again..

Room Tip: each is different but there are 2 rooms that you have to hike round the back of the building... not...

An amazing place right in the middle of the desert. First surprise: a hangar that was upgraded into a stylish ultra modern hotel and restaurant but don't let this disappoint you. The restaurant can be compared to some of the best ones in the country. The rooms are very pleasant, spacey, quiet, and very clean. The breakfast is fantastic (we stayed there full pension). Both the owner and the personnel are very friendly and cater to your every needs. In one word: I highly recommend!
