I've been to the Camel Desert Camp now already 4 times...
the very first time, Ahmed picked us up with his pickup and we got into the camp, right on time to watch the sunset from one of the hills, close by the camp. It was absolutely magical!! Whole WadiRum is!
But i think the reason why i keep coming back is - of course WadiRum itself and its surrounding silence, but mainly the hospitality and friendliness of the staff at Camel Desert Camp. It is always so much fun with them and they made us feel so comfortable straight away.
The food is amazing and the camp is really simple and beautiful - the perfect experience for WadiRum.
If you are in Jordan, or even close by, you have to visit WadiRum - no doubt about that, and you should definitely stay at their camp.
To experience Wadi Rum at Ahmads camp was simply incredible and one of the most beautiful things I have done so far. The team is super friendly, funny and is willing to make your stay a very special one. Ahmad, Khaled and Emad are the best hosts, caring about their guests alot and spoiling them with sweet tee or Bedouin Whiskey as they call it whenever you like! Furthermore they are amazing cooks, the food was delicious and fresh and made our stay even more unforgettable!
The camp is clean, comfortable, cozy and the most quiet and peacefull place! We totally forgot space and time, being fascinated by this unique landscape and being hosted so well by the guys. I would definetely recommend to climb one of the closeby mountains and see the sunrise from there! Ask for the sunset spot, they will take you there!
We had an incredible time in Wadi Rum with this team...it was so good that we even went there for a second time!
Don't miss Ahmad and the Desert Camel Camp! :-)
Thank you for making this experience a very special one!
For me this was a once in a lifetime experience, it was so peacefully silent in the desert. With looming large red rocks and crevices.
We were picked up by Ahmed and taken to our camp, it was a lot of fun driving through the desert and spinning through the sand. Ahmed was very funny talking about the lives of camels and how they are trained for racing (Ahmed once had his own!). The drive took us further into the desert and away from other camps. We couldn't see anything at night besides the stars and our own fire.
The camp is comfortable and spacious, the rooms are lockable and for a desert bathroom it is clean, cool and most of all hot water! We went as a couple and had a rejuvenating time. After Aqaba it was very relaxing to 'get away' and really just chill. No phones, no internet, nothing but a phenomenal landscape and our guide.
Ahmed took us on a jeep tour through the desert hitting up some incredible places. If you're game I highly recommend sitting in the back and letting you hair fly! Ahmed told us about the mountains and showed us some historical places, what impressed me too was that at the more popular places he picked up rubbish left behind by others so we joined in too.
I watched the sunset from a perfect place and even got a bedouin make over compliments of Ahmed.
I was a little worried about choosing the right camp as I had read that many are only just off the main road, but I heard about Ahmed from a friend and couldn't recommend it more. I felt comfortable, looked after and had quite a few laughs.
I you're looking for a more personal guide and to really enjoy desert life I would go with Ahmed at his family run camp!
I stayed here for a few days with my partner in march, Ahmed and his team at Camel Dessert Camp are amazing and full of knowledge. Walking around the beautiful landscapes, going on jeep tours and soaking up the Bedouin culture is a experience everyone needs to get when visiting Jordan. Defiantly a highlight of my trip was the keep tours and meeting Camels. If you visiting Wadi Rum make sure you book with Camel.
