Getting there, especially with no possibility of paying the park fees at Mtito Andei Gate for Tsavo East (but only at Mtito Andei gate for Tsavo West) and with the road/railway works on the road, it is pretty complicated.
In this season the park was very dry, thus seeing animals during game drives was almost impossible. However the camp organises nice activities as the sundowner at the Yatta Plateau and a bush breakfast by the Athi river.
The camp is clean and very well manteined, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, food is good.
Be aware ther's no electricity in the tents and wifi only at night.
Generally, it has been a very relaxing time out of the city.

This permanent tented camp was a delight to arrive to (river crossing) and our stay was totally enjoyed. The food was wonderful and the staff so helpful and willing to please. Our tent was comfortable and the outdoor bathroom roomy and airy. We had 4 nights in total which allowed a couple of lazy days around the pool. The Camp and the staff I could not fault.
Negatives - drinking water was not included in the price - a necessity. Also the drive to and from Nairobi was 6 hours each way - this made for very long days traveling (and created a little stress when needing to arrive at the airport for our flight home).
Also, at the time we were in Tsavo East there were few animal spotted, a day trip to Tsavo West provided better animal viewing and the Mzima Springs a garden in Eden with spectacular landscapes. With hindsight I'd plan a fly in/out to Tsavo West.

Love the Views of Yatta Plateau (world's longest lava flow) and the plains from the oldest tented camp in Tsvao. It's charming and beautifully done - plus the sun downer on Yatta plateau - the world's longest plateau while watching the sun go down behind Kilimanjaro - Africa's tallest mountain. Toasting to hippos honking in the river and returning by moonlight set the mood for a wonderful dinner by the banks of the river at the tented camp.

Traveled here with my wife and two children in April, spent three nights.
A really genuine safari camp.Quiet, peaceful with beautiful scenery.
The best for us though were the great members of staff who went out of their way to ensure our comfort.
The food was excellent
Was a bit disappointed with scarcity of wildlife on our game drives, but the views from the Yatta plateau were great!
If going by road, use a four wheel drive vehicle.

A very rustic campsite sited on the river bank, amid breathtaking wilderness, offering very comfortable luxurious tented accommodation. Food was absolutely brilliant. Staff were very friendly and went all out to make our stay very comfortable. Their driver took us to some of the best sundowner sites we have visited in Kenya. Very children friendly with a pool, board games, archery and cat fishing.
Although game was scarce we managed to see a family of hippos, a herd of buffalos, baboons, dik diks, waterbucks and loads of different birds. Herds of elephants were sited at distances from the high level sundowner spots. Haven't seen such superb lightening anywhere!!!!
Having massages overlooking wilderness is very relaxing and therapeutic.
You have to visit the place to enjoy all this.
