My Kenyan friends said if there’s one special thing to do in Kenya it’s having sundowners on the Yatta Plateau! This was definitely a highlight of our stay and I would agree with them! After a short adventurous trip up the hill the views were out of this world and I got to spend it with my family.
Our few days were definitely made up with special experiences thanks to the friendly staff taking us on game drives, picnic lunch on a river beach with hippo wallowing a few meters away and a lovely Bush breakfast in the shade on the river again. With all the rains that Kenya has been having over the past few weeks Tsavo is lush and green so spotting animals was a little harder but...we got to see elephants, giraffe, geranuk, lots of dikdiks and three young male lion, who were as surprised to see us as we were them.
I can’t fault the food and the service of the camp. The staff were great! Peter, Robert and Thomas really looked after us and the rest of the staff were all so friendly and helpful.
The camp itself and all it’s amenities are looking very tired and could use a sprucing up to put it in the same league as all the upmarket lodges that are alternative options to visit. More
