“Great 2 days in voi safari lodge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

I was here for 2 days and im happy to share my experience with other travelers.Having had reserved in Ndololo camp that they changed everything and almost ripped us off on arrival, we went to voi safari lodge and we were warmly receive. The front office staff were of great help as our budget was a bit tight and the manager(forgot his name) was such a nice guy.We ended up cancelling our game drive as we saw almost everything right from the bar when the animals came for for water, not to forget the buffalo kill by lions. The rooms were tidy and spacious.I highly recommend this place.

We had 3 tourist whom we booked through Continental Tours and Travel in Kenya. They had a wonderful time watching various wildlife animals from the comfort of their rooms. They could watch lions, giraffes, antelopes and others. they enjoyed the park scenery, food and welcomnig atmosphere in all respect.

We enjoyed the park, plenty of animals and the lodge also. It is now rather close to the expanding Voi town, so less magical than it was.
Good acceptable food, nice room.
Ngulia lodge was better in all respects.

We had six tourist who visited Tsavo East in their 2Days safari with our company (Continental Tours and Travel Co. Ltd). And they spend their one night in this great lodge.Voi Safari Lodge is perched on the top of a cliff-faced hill. This lodge offers safari accommodation in 52-rooms designed to blend with the rocky surroundings and boats of a unique dug up rock swimming pool with the surroundings dotted by wild flora planted around the lodge.Voi Safari Lodge has a waterhole which attracts a lot of wild animals you may be lucky watch the animals as you enjoy a drink from the restaurant or through an underground bunker where you can close to the wildlife for close-up photography

Room Tip: We normally ask the lodge to give our clients the best rooms with the best view

Stayed as part of a safari trip with Thomson. Arrived after a long drive from our beach hotel so was glad to have a quick and easy check in, with free soft drinks. Lunch had plenty of choice and the resturant had an outdoor seating area which had fantastic views of the plains. Drinks were a reasonable price, with soft drinks at approx 200 kes each. The rooms were nice with mosquito nets around the beds, but had no air conditioning and the bathroom was a lot better than I expected with nice walk in showers and free shampoo and body wash. The pool area was nice but the highlight was of course the underground viewing for the watering hole, you could get so close to the elephants it was unreal.

Room Tip: All the rooms had good views, none have balconies

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2013

The purpose of going to our favourite lodge was to see my orphan ele Shimba.

I knew already with the monthly update that he had been mauled by a lion and his injuries were dreadful.

We were lucky at the time we left as the snarl up on the weighbridge had been dreadful the previous Friday.

We had a van to ourselves which is heaven - not worrying about what others wish to see or do.

Guests whom we had made friends with at the hotel had to wait four hours stuck between lorries and missed their breakfast stop and were getting a little weary.

However the time we left on the Monday was fine but I have never seen so many lorries as this before - the last time was May 2012 and I am sure that there were not as many lorries on the road!!

We stopped at the last curio shop on the left for a rest and washroom but anyone please be wary if using chip and pin as my card was stopped by my bank as someone was trying to use fraudulently and I am sure that this was the shop!!

I had bought some malacite.

It was baking hot when we entered the gate to Tsavo East and we saw a lot of animals on the way - the usual zebras, gazelles, an abundance of elephants, buffalo, giraffe, but to name a few.

Our guide stopped the van and lo and behold we saw a leopard up a tree before we entered the lodge.

We had asked for our usual room but the lodge was hardly full!!

We had lunch and then relaxed before going to the stockades to see Shimba.

Unfortunately he was in a pen as his injuries are still very bad but I managed to stroke him and he put his trunk on my foot.

He has a pal Panda who takes care of him - well interacts with him as Panda is only 18 months and does not go into the bush.

There are now 15 ele's there now and the rest bounded up for their milk around 4.45 pm

The keepers now feed all the ele's with milk bottles again.

We were allowed into the enclosures and had superb 'photos taken with them and one took a liking to myself after I had clapped him and cuddled him and put his trunk all over me!!!

We spoke to the keepers for a long time and asante sana Julius for giving us the time we wished of going round all the ele's and time out with them.

On leaving my husband gave the keepers KHS for sodas as they are doing such a good job.

We retired to our room - the bathroom has been upgraded with a glass shower and loads of toiletries and we had a double bed and single bed and super views over the water hole and pool where many animals came to drink.

We also went down to the hide and it is amazing to be so close to all the animals at the water hole.

Although no air conditioning in the room we had a fan which was sufficient and they have also put a hair dryer in the bathroom.

We had a good nights sleep and ready for the next day to Tsavo West.

All in all it was great to see Shimba in the dreadful circumstances he had suffered.

Asante sana to Tita The GM and all staff whom we know so well for a wonderful stay.

The only one item we could complain about was the price of drinks. Very expensive!!!
