The hotel is totally awesome...The location and hotel structures are breath taking. I loved the idea of being in the wild while enjoying the view from your room. The art in building the hotel is just amazing. The restaurant overseas a watering hole where animals come to quench their thirst. I took so many photos just admiring the landscape. The hotel staff were warm and very friendly. I will definitely go back God willingly.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have a better view

Simply put this hotel is incredible! The best thing is the location, it is absolutely breathtaking at first and when we woke up at 4am because there were some elephants feeding we just didn't care as we felt so privileged to just be there. We only stayed one night, but would have stayed longer if we could.

All I will say is that the food was not the best we had in Keya, but it was more than adequate. The views and the atmosphere of the hotel more than exceeded our expectations even though they were high as we had seen the photos before going. It is imposssible to describe the feeling of looking out of your bedroom window and seeing literally hundreds of elephants coming from miles around to the wearing hole, not to mention the monkeys, zebras, buffalo, birds, and other animals around!

Incredible location, and a nice hotel.

I'm finally round to writing a review of all of my holidays in recent years....this is the first I just HAVE to mention. Once in a lifetime experience. The monkeys showed off to us all evening as we were in a room by a tree. When we were there the water hole had dried up due to a problem with the pipes, but the elephants were quite happily drinking from the lobby when we got there!
The bridges to walk over were daunting at first but you soon got used to them, but I agree, not suitable for little ones.
The restaurant was fine, and the balcony on the top was just amazing. We sat there with theothers on our tour, regularly in silence, listening to the sounds of this place.
a MUST go to place!!

A great place to stay for couples or families with older children. This is not suitable for children under 5years old in our opinion as the accomodation is set 5 metres above groud and the connecting bridges to each set of accomodation has side rails with widish gaps. The lobby is open to a moat area where animals come to drink and the restaurant is higher up with great views over a swamp and watering hole area usually with loads of animals. A perfect place to stay. no pool or garden area but guests use the pool at neighbouing Taita Hills.

We,vbe stayed here 4 times now on our own and with family and a must place to stay.

Most people stay as part of a package but is popular with Kenya and Tanzanian residents.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the swamp and watering hole, Some rooms are triple, but no connecting roo...

This was our second visit to Saltlick, the lodge and facilities are excellent. The resteraunt is very good, but the highlight of the place is to be entertained for 24 hours a day by a rich abundance of animals and birds especialely the elephants who just keep appearing like massive silent grey ghosts !!!

We stayed here for two nights while going to Sarova whitesands, Mombasa. This place is breath taking and the very first thing that you notice is its unique structure and the second thing is the sound of elephants. There is a waterhole right in front of the property and also an underground tunnel which gives you the safest-closest encounter with the wild animals. There is no dull moment here. Not even while u sleep as elephants march under your room the whole night. The staff is excellent and very co-operative. I remember Agneta, the ever smiling receptionist who would be always ready to serve us in the best possible manner. Just awesome.

Room Tip: Take the rooms closest to the restaurant as all the action happens at the waterhole and you get a cl...
