After reading some of the previous reviews, I was worried about our one night stay here on safari. However, I was pleasantly surprised. As others have said there is no electricity or wi-fi during the day (it is switched on at 5pm). However, the view from this place is spectacular; it really is the middle of Africa. No idea how it is even possible to get facilities up here so wi-fi for the evening was more than fine for us. We arrived to a wet towel and juice and were shown to our room. We had lunch and then went out on a game drive. When we returned, there was an elephant and head of buffalo outside the bar so we just sat watching the animals for a while. We saw lots of hyrax around the grounds, used the viewpoint binoculars and spotted zebra in the distance and also saw lots of lizards and chipmunks. The sunrise view was impressive the following morning and I heard a lion from our balcony. The elephants were around well after dark and you could hear them locking tusks. Why would anyone want wi-fi when you have all this?! The food was good - general Kenya buffet standards with rice, potatoes, soup and various types of meat. I am quite fussy and found enough to eat. The only problem we had was a cold shower at 5.30am!

One doesn’t really have to go too far to see the wildlife as they literally show up at the door step (aka water hole). Plenty of elephants, large herds of buffalo and the leopard sighting in the evenings.

Great meals and we were always met by the beaming chef. The leopard bar by the terrace also had great cocktails to offer and with a breaking taking view.

Rooms though require a little upgrading but overall, great place to visit and helpful and friendly staff.

Two thumbs up from me and two not so easy to please teens :)

Room tip: Adjoining rooms available if travelling with children

Rooms are ok and bathrooms are bad. Food is pretty limited but okay for a night. We missed the leopard feeding..waited from 7 30 till 11..and then slept off. Apparently it came much later. Wifi is amazing. The watering hole is more of a sandpit.

I would like to thank the staff for their amazing service. Our car broke down near the gate of Tsavo West which was 50 kms from the lodge and Ngulia immediately sent us a car. That was really helpful.

This place apparently advertises on feeding leopards in order to make sure that tourists can see this beautiful animal just in front of the hotel dining area. So instead of letting nature do its part, the hotel actively intervenes for tourists and feels proud of it. We feel bad about all of that, and would we have known this upfront we would have never stayed here (i.e. asked our safari agent to book us a different lodge) Furthermore, the rooms are in need of some serious love.

We spent a night in June, 2018 with family at the Lodge. It is situated way deep into the park with hardly anything to do other than a nightly ritual wherein a bait is raised for a leopard sighting. It was a pretty stupid idea. Since its run by the Kenya Park Authorities, The lodge is in a very bad state in terms of infrastructure, Food, Service and the quality of Linen, Room quality etc...If you are ready to compromise, then its OK. Would not recommend.

Room tip: Take your own flash light as its go no power at night
