I stayed at chez tranquilllle for couple of nights. Would have liked to stay longer, but was fully booked. It’s clean cheap and best part of all; you meet fellow travellers to exchange tips. Staff is amazing, and jointly run by husband and wife, who are wonderful and very accommodating even for strict vegetarian like me!!!!!.
Trip to lighthouse is must (Whole day!!!!!) Boat trip + Food + climbed top of the lighthouses + close interaction with lemurs + geology of the surrounding areas for the price of (two/three MacDonald’s happy meals- (obviously depending on your country) I liked it so much I went twice!!!!!.
The other trip I went, (four hours drive by 4X4) 3 days and 2nights was one of the awesome experience. (Can’t recall the name, but we camped side of the river, went to the caves, the water fall, Etc but for me the highlight of the trips was walk to the fishing villages, took awesome photos).
My advice is even if you staying in different hotel go have breakfast there, and speak to the owners who speak okish English, but honest and genuine guy, to get best out of your trip in Madagascar.
