“A comfort budget hotel in Genting”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Overall the hotel is a good budget hotel which offers value for money. Chalets are modest but very ok and clean. The amazing staff is there to help you and always with a smile. Breakfast is ok and if you leave earlier they'll make it for you!!! The location is in the Genting village which is not the most beautiful of the island but if has few restaurants.

Pretty expensive for what you get. The area of genting isnt amazing, abc was friendlier and better restaurants.

The room here was ok. But location wasn't really amazing, set back from beach.

Staff weren't very nice. Lady at reception said to ask her if we needed anything. We asked her for more sachets of coffee which she cheekily tried changing us for. When we had been given them for free in room.

Breakfast was cold. We had it at 9am when everyone else also came, but things had been left out for hours.

Next morning we were leaving for boat and were informed that breakfast would be ready for us. Infact it was started to be prepared when we arrived for breakfast.

Snakes and massive monitor lizards next to out chalet!

I wanted a good hotel in budget and it was the perfect match. It is 5 minutes walk from the first stop of the ferry. The staff is very helpful and breakfast buffet was excellent. Internet connection was good.

Do bring your own towels and toothbrush/toothpaste if you're coming here to stay.

Love the laid-back style and we had 3 people staying in a room. There's no TV and someone have to sleep on the floor with a folded mattress which is really dirty.

Stained towels and bedsheets were also given to us.

Luckily no bed bugs bites in this place.

This is my second time staying in this resort, I booked a twin room from 18-20 April, arrived at the resort after 5pm and upon arrival I was given with the last available room which was a double bed!!! I made it very clear during reservations that i insisted a twin room and they even confirmed it but they failed to deliver! To make matter even worse, that lady at the reception made me pay additional RM 10 per night as claimed the person who first liaised with me had left the company and he quoted the wrong price at RM 160 which should have been RM 170
due to peak season. She emphasized that it was the company policy, blah blah blah but I still find it rather ridiculous! Although eventually she changed us to a twin bed room the 2nd night but I will not return to this resort in the future due to the bad experience.

We booked this place through Agoda & found it very neat, clean and at a walking distance from the beach. When we arrived at the airport, two of their staff members were waiting for us with a sea taxi. Be careful the sea taxi fare will be in addition to the hotel bill. They had a simple breakfast included in the package, while you have to tell them your plans about lunch & dinner in advance to have them prepare the same for you. Staff is very courteous and you will get free Wifi in their lounge with a beautiful view of the beach. If you ask them they will cut a fresh coconut for you to savor the drink for free. All in all it was a very good experience.

We booked this hotel as it was on one of the quieter beaches (during the week) and was one of the cheapest on there. Compared to the luxury resorts it's a bargain, but don't expect 5*luxury!!
Although I was a bit concerned that there was no directions on their website other than get off at kampung Genting, once you get there you realise that it's just a beach with a few hotels! There is a map on the jetty and the hotel is a 5 minute walk to the left. We received a warm greeting from the staff and even though we had arrived a day early (the bus from Singapore to Mersing was quicker than expected and we were able to catch the early ferry) they gave us a room for the extra night. The rooms are private huts with a bathroom. They are clean, lock and have hot water. When you're staying on a island as beautiful as Tioman you don't want to be staying in your room! Hotel is 1 min from the beach and they have their own sun loungers down there to use free of charge. We had an issue with our door locking so they sent someone to change the lock straight away. The hotel served drinks and breakfast which was basic but if you're travelling on a budget, will fill you up for the day! 1st day was spent on the beach and looking for places to eat. Genting doesn't have a massive choice of restaurants but the riverside cafe fed us each day for lunch!! A few little shops provide basics and also extremely cheap alcohol. £10 for a bottle of Bombay sapphire! You can go on trips from Genting but this hotel has a boat and a captain! To reduce prices, the management ask at breakfast who wants to go on a trip from the hotel and you all go together. We went on our 2nd day as it wasn't busy and not masses of people wanted to go on a trip. Cheaper than the organised tours, we were taken around the entire island and given opportunities to eat, shop, visit the other kampungs, snorkel and swim. We were also dropped off onto a pontoon in the middle of the sea!! A fabulous day! The hotel also put on a BBQ for us one night.
Tioman is a beautiful island, a tropical paradise, don't stay cooped up in an expensive resort, go and explore, meet new people and you'll have an amazing time!
