Well when you arrive to Tioman and you take your first glimpse of the ocean, beach and the scenery your jaw drops. It was absolutely amazing. The location of the resort is fantastic - the beach is great with clear, calm water and plenty of sealife - great for snorkeling just off the beach.

The accommodation is good. We stayed in deluxe rooms right next to the beach. The room standard definitely suits a 4-star rating. The only downside is that the wall (or I should stay door) separating different units is quite thin so if you're unluky enough to have noisy neighbours - that might be a problem. However, it was fine for us.

The staff were great. I read some previous comments and therefore didn't have high expectations. Yes, some of them may have limited English skills, however they more than make up for it with their friendliness and willingness to help.

Restaurants. We had breakfast there every morning. It was buffet with a great selection which was updated every morning. For dinner you have a choice of a la carte menu (which we preferred - and this is reasonably priced) or buffet (which is more expensive). My compliments to the chief - both options were great. And of course there are 2 little restaurants just outside the main gate that offer great authentic food at cheap prices. Try Tom Yum at the Malay restaurant - the best I've ever tasted.

Swimming pools were great, looked clean and big enough. But why do you need a swimming pool when there is such a beautiful beach!!??

Diving centre. The instructors were very professional. Enjoyed diving with them just at Renggis Island. My wife did a Try Dive with them and we were both happy. The only thing is they might need to update their equipment especially BCD's = they look a bit ancient.

The flight to Tioman. Well, yes, the plane looks very old. To be honest I was very concerned when boarding. However, the flight went smooth and pilots seemed to know what they were doing. I did some research on the plane they are flying - Dash 7. Apparently it's one of the safest planes ever made. However, getting a couple of new planes may help passengers avoid undue stress and anxiety.

Overall, Tioman is a magic place that you need to visit at least once in your lifetime. We are definitely coming back though. I had previously travelled to places like Phuket and Bali. And I have to say neither of them stand even close to being so pristinely beautiful and relaxing as Tioman. If you're after busy night life - you won't get it here. I would stay at Berjaya again.

Room Tip: Deluxe is great. Make sure you don't have noisy neighbours.

I travel to Tioman island somewhere mid of June. Driving to Mersing Johor jetty, park my car there and take the ferry. Very bad experience at jetty that have to rush for Jetty ticket even though already book the ticket with local agent, they might end up tell you have to wait another 2 hours waiting for tide.

This resort is one of the best resort in Malaysia i have been. Friendly stuff, sea view private room with comfortable environment. Nothing more to say about the hotel, it is just awesome.

Room Tip: Sea view room is awesome !

Maybe a bit too expensive. The cottages were nice and clean, but nothing special. This resort would be good for senior travellers, families with kids and others who want to be safe. And who prefer a swimming pool although the perfect blue sea is just in front...

Staying on this island made one feel like its our own little island in this massive place. Its quite small but beautiful as well. The resort was really breathtaking with its own private beach and good restaurants. All units are individual villas-small and big ones. We stayed for two days here before travelling to Singapore and we enjoyed every bit of the place. We hired two cycles on one of the days and roamed the length of the island. We took the resort's jungle trek and though I thought it would be just a walk in the forest, we had quite some uphill climbing to do. The big point in this were the waterfalls where you could take a bath and sit under the falls.!
The food was quite good at all restaurants especially the Indian restaurant! The carrot halwa (dessert) was simply delicious! It was a welcome change after the food from KL.
Overall the resort is worth every penny and wonderful experience to foot!

We had a very memorable trip to Tioman and stayed here in Berjaya resort. Service experience differs from person to person! Especially when you travel out of a comfortable country like Singapore, you got to lower your expectations. That is my rule no 1! When you set your expectations low, everything that exceeds pleases you. You have decided to stay at a place at a price... that doesn't mean that place is all yours and people out there are your slaves to serve you, please you all the times. Set the expectations straight to avoid disappointments. We stayed here for 3 nights, we were initially told during the check-in that the room will not available immediately for us. When we explained that the kids are very tired and need some rest, they managed to make it ready quite quickly. How we extract the service entirely depends on consumer of the service too. Customers' attitude matters too. There were few folks who sounded grim! Some didn't even smile! But they all helped us the way we wanted and we managed to extract the smile and service we wanted. Definitely the staffs who smiled from heart outnumbered the others easily.

The deluxe chalet was spacious, clean and nicely equipped to meet the needs. Restaurants were good with plenty of vegetarian options both in Sreenelayan and Coriander restaurants. Breakfast had excellent varieties. Indian food in Coriander restaurant was very nice much to our delight. The resort is very close to shallow watered beach and good for a nice long walk into the waters to enjoy watching some colourful marine creatures. Rengis island which is stone throw away from the resort is the best place to snorkel. Excellent place to see colourful fishes and coral reefs. Folks spotted even a baby shark. Resort has good sea side bar and pool side bar too which offer nice variety of drinks. Beach bar offers spectacular sunset view. Resort has excellent list of activities to take you around the island for various activities. You also have tourism association of Tioman having their desk which offer equally good set of activities. We went around the island on an exclusive boat which cost us 400 MYR for 4 of us. The ride itself was thrilling as the east coastline has no beaches at all. So you can easily engage yourself doing such activities. The pool water was not that clear, possibly due to nature of the water in the region! Not chlorinated even, perhaps it is way too close to the beach.

Remember the simple thing that you are in Tioman to fall in love with nature. You can very well do this here in Berjaya. This place is for nature lovers. Do expect delays in every step of your journey! Return ferry to mainland is invariably delayed. As I said before go there with open mind with no premeditated expectations, you are in for pleasant surprises. This place can treat you beyond your imagination!
