I didn´t expect too much because it is a budget accomodation in Malaysia - don´t forget this. But it was a really nice 3 days stay there. Salang is the best beach in Tioman Island compared to other bays along the ferry trip. The rooms are really Ok. I mean you can not expect luxury in this price range, but it was clean for Malaysian standards. Of course there is sometimes a bad smell because of the sewage (we stayed in a garden chalet), but it was the same in Perhentian Islands and elsewhere on this island. It´s Asia...
It is very close to the beach where snorkling is really good. It depends on who is at the reception, but the woman was really friendly, the guy depending on his mood...
I would come back, as the garden is really well maintained and the site is great, but if you wanna have nice bayview, check in in the banana hill chalets (also belong to Salang Sayang)
Food is not very good in this Resort, but there are plenty of other places around where (sea)food is excellent.
