I had a great time with my family at Paya Beach Resort. The deluxe chalet is a great stay for family of 6 . Just nice. We stayed for 2 nights. The place brings you back to the island life... where you need to relax and enjoy nature.

Dont be fazed by the negative review. I was worried initially but came with an open mind. Paya beach surprised me. The island bell boy immediately took our bags from the jetty. if you missed it... Paya Beach is just 5 mins walk. from the jetty. Check in was a breeze..Our chalet was nicely ready for us. A point to note: Dinner at 7.00pm... come by at 6.30pm order a nice fruit juice... and enjoy the drink . Come after 7.. the buffet line will be busy... The food pretty simple and has a mixture of malay and chinese cuisine..

Snorkelling was great! Tioman is beautiful...

Check out... wait at the food stalls at the jetty... The burger ramly not bad ..have lunch.. relax... no point hustling at the jetty ... only will make you flustered..

Thanks Paya .. will def return back

Pays beach resort was a good stay that could have been fantastic. We were looking for a tioman resort with ac pool and tv and this was one of the few which had all three. Tioman itself is a beautiful island and was great to visit. As for the resort 'tired' is probably a good description. We stayed in the deluxe chalet which was a great size but a bit run down. We stayed 4 nights and the room was not serviced dispute hanging up the service card. Probably the worst part of the resort was the litter randomly scattered around (appears to be a problem throughout tioman) and addressing this rubbish issue would help a lot. Food choice at resort was reasonable, buffet breakfast was decent with a reasonable food choice. Only ate once in resort otherwise, had satay and dessert both good. Number of stalls and restaurants nearby meant we ate there, all meals where pretty good. My wife had a massage and raved about it. We did the snorkeling trip and had the best snorkeling experience ever, and considing I've been to the whitsundays, Carribbian and Fiji that was impressive. Did 5 dives as well, the dives close to tioman were okay but the outer island dives fantastic, great staff as well. Food, drinks and diving were all fantastic value with the Nz dollar. A change in mgmt would do wonders for this resort but as is it was still worthwhile as tioman itself should not be missed and PBR was decent enough as long as your expectations arent to high

We loved the diveschool, Dive cove, and the diving. Food in the evening was good, also some nice little restaurants outside of the hotel. We had a deluxe chalet and the space and beds were good. Location of the hotel and the chalets are also very good.
However, one of our (big) souvenirs was stolen from the closet in our room. It could not be found and no one seems to know anything about it, although nothing else was missing or anyone else but housekeeping had been in the chalet...Also beware if they change tickets for ferry or taxi to Teket. They "forgot" to give our money back and did not mention the cheapest option of taking the "water bus" to Tekek.
Having the room cleaned was sometimes difficult, twice they forgot and we had to go and ask for it at the desk. Sheets were not cleaned until the 5th day and new coffee/tea/toilet paper was not given.
Too bad as the resort has great potential.

We stayed at Paya Beach Resort for 3 nights, from 22 - 25 April 2011.
Initially we felt afraid to choose this hotel after reading negative comments on TripAdvisor.
Because there is one between friends who had visited the paya beach and he assured us that the paya beach resort unlike any in the news at TripAdvisor.
finally with great hesitation we chose paya beach resorts as our holiday destinations.
Arriving us at paya beach resort, we stunned, not able to say a word to describe our admiration to this resort.
This is an extraordinary resort, with beaches and scenery so took the hearts of visitors.
It is very satisfying, we get satisfaction in excess of what we have paid for.
Everyone has different views, including in assessing the paya beach resort.
But I would argue that the paya beach resort is a stunning resort.
My message to the future visitors, come to paya beach resort, and you will feel its own pleasures. and that is the answer to all our doubts about this gem of Tioman island.

I really want to advise people not to go there. It is dirty behind imagination, the beach (that almost doesn't exist) is full of all kinds of trash, the food seemed for animals anda altough we have paid in advance, we slept there one night only and went to another resort. It is really a pitty that malasian tourism allows a facility like this one, with no quality at all, to operate.

If you are looking for a fancy, clean, newly renovated, highly-courteous staff, then this place is not for you, same goes to drink and party goers. But if you are looking for a less crowded get-away, a beach with just a few people and few lights to enjoy the starry sky, comfortable accommodation with very affordable price, and friendly staff, this place exceeded my expectation.
As other reviews commented, some hiccups in food were definitely experienced, but going with friend and shared a few laughs, plus the cool breeze, shuffling of coconut tree leaves and sound of waves just completely washed the negativity away.

I highly recommend diving with Diver's Cove at Payabeach :) Had the best dive experience there and got my Advanced Open Water License!

The ferry ride back was about 2 hours late. While less than ideal, it's also extended time to enjoy the beautiful scenary with friends.

Room Tip: Book AD wings -- where the pond is
