Nice place. There were police officers guarding the place in the night. As the structure is high and limited access to the platform, we find it quite safe. The only problem is the showering water also taste a bit salty. Room is bit small , food is ok. Staff attitude is just pass of cause we also met some good & responsible staffs.

I stayed at Seaventure in July, a week before the policeman got shot. I have to say, if you are afraid of the terrorist attacks, Seaventure is the safest place to stay as access is relatively more difficult compared to the beautiful water bungalows at Mabul. In fact, I spoke to a policeman while taking an evening stroll on Mabul and he also pointed out that it is the safest place to be.

Safety aside, Seaventure is a great place to stay if you are a diver. The whole set up on the rig is catered for divers. There is a well organised dive area with ample space to hang your wetsuits and store your equipment. Service is good and the divemasters are very enthusiastic about their dives, even when the weather is bad...rock and roll to Sipadan on the boat! Food is delicious. Try their garlic bread. It is absolutely divine. The soups are good too.

For the rooms, they are small and could use some renovation. The aircond in my room leaked and even though they tried to repair it, it still leaked for the 3 nights I was there. But I was too tired to care, although this is something the management should seriously look into, an uplift of the rooms.

Overall, Seaventure is a great place to stay if you are a diver.

We have planned a trip to Seaventures for August 18-22; given the recent kidnapping activity we have become very worried about traveling and staying in the area. According to the US embassy, Semporna and the surrounding islands should not be visited unless necessary. Yet, when we phoned the dive center they informed us that it was pretty safe.
Given these conflicting views, and potential vested interests, we would like advice from people who have recently travelled to Seaventures or the nearby areas for diving and could answer some questions.

1) Did you feel safe during your travel to the different dive sites and islands and at night?
2) What security measures were in place that you saw and how did they make you feel?
3) Do you feel Americans may be targeted more than other groups and why?

We would greatly appreciate and insight as we are pretty worried.

As a group of 3, we just came back from Seaventures after staying there for 6 days and 5 nights. It has been a wonderful and unique experience. The dives were awesome. The food and services were excellent. That was my first time to have tanks and BCD prepared and carried over to my seat. I just needed to check them, put them on and roll over by the side of the boat. They even have a server who accompany divers to Sipadan and serves them with breakfast and tea after dives. Diving the house reef by taking lift to the water gave us a surreal and amazing feeling.

At the same time, the rooms of the "Rig" are small. But as we are staying outdoor all the time except sleeping and bathing, it was not a concern for us at all. It is also NOT a "resort" for other type of travel except diving. A 'no, no' for family with small children.

My only complain is that I may have spoiled by them and will be less willing to go for other diving trips in the future. Special thanks are to Bridgit from the diving team and Najib from the F&B department. Their excellent services gave us a marvelous holiday and lasting memories.

Stayed here 5 days 4 nights. The airport transfer driver was already waiting at the airport by the time we arrived. We had to make a pit stop to the Semporna office and then head to the jetty to board the speedboat to the rig. Upon arrival at the rig, we were greeted warmly by the staff. We had lunch and went to our first dive at the house reef. All dives are well arranged with destination, dive guide and guest names all planned out on their white board. The dive masters are very experienced and friendly. We had Titta and Bridget on most of our dives. Felt they did a wonderful job showing us around the sites and giving us diving tips occasionally. The dive sites and its surrounding marine life  is amazing. Everywhere you look you are bound to spot something! As for the rooms, its pretty standard. Low water pressure and the water is rather salty. The room itself is not that comfy but you will hardly ever spend time in the room. Meals are provided during breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet style. Meals on board the rig is above my expectation. Some days they have BBQ. During surface interval we will normally hang around the main deck area. In the evenings a great place to relax will be at the sun deck. Reason I rated this place a 5 despite the room condition is due to the service provided and the total experience. The experience here on one trip is way better than all my other dive trips combined!

It's an amazing journey, beautiful dive in the area, excellent food and good company. It's a place for serious divers, so you don't get bored as everyone was nice and shared their dive experiences all the time. Food was great and they change everyday, also consistently giving you snack between dives. Isolated location so it's perfect for someone who wants to getaway for a while! The rig itself is not a 5 stars hotel but it's clean and tidy. Dive masters were very experiences and friendly, very professional and attentive under water yet very entertaining out of water. I can recommend more of this place and experience it yourself!!
