“Perfect Diving Trip!”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

We were there from 3/13-3/17. Everything was arranged when we booked the hotel on their official website. Basically all you need is to be there, you can rent the equipments in the resort, have three meals per day, really don't need any cash on hand. The last day, our boat for departure is at 11am, so they offer light lunch before we left. Everything there was perfect arranged and scheduled. We really enjoyed our vacation in Borneo resort. Our dive master was Sorian, he's a very delightful person, nothing in hurry always looking for something small but special, we did enjoy our every moment of diving. The foods in the resort were better than expected, staffs were also nice and helpful.

We had 2 requirements when booking our dive holiday... With Serena from Asian dive vacations - Air conditioning & good diving! WE GOT BOTH!
Sipadan Island proved to have so much on offer!!! The visibility was great to view the abundance of amazing corals, fish, turtles & creature species with kaleidoscope of colours. Brilliant wall, swim, cavern & drift dives. "Barracuda Point" is renowned for its schools of fish and it was just like Grand Central Station.
We dived 3 days out of 5 at Sipadan as they are the original resort they have been allocated more dive time on the Island than the other resorts. Probably why it was a little more expensive.
The accomodation is average, bed & room very comfortable, but bathrooms are old & smell of bore water, not pleasant but we felt the incredible diving was worth putting up with a few odors....
The staff were wonderful & always keen to assist when asked for anything. Special mention to our Dive masters Willie & Lionel with Captains Juman & Sing.
We did 2 house dives, one by day & an awesome night dive. The area was teaming with curious critters, lovely corals, turtles & lots of species of fishes.
Slow down & enjoy The muck diving at Kapalai Island, some gorgeous macro photography to be had with an abundance of little critters also featuring massive Eric & Erica the resident Moral Eels.

Not worth the money. The rooms and food are average. The hotel staff is not very helpful. I also found the main office very challenging and unhelpful to deal with. When I was booking I had to send 3 e-mails. Just to get a reply after 5 days. Diving off the dock is one of the best tune up dives I have seen.I will give kudos to the dive masters who were knowledgeable and professional. The dive scheduling needs some work as you repeat the same muck dives. I did 11 muck dives but at only 6 different sites (5 of them off the dock). Which is disappointing. You can do far better for your money. My suggestion would be to book day trips to Sipadan out of Semporna instead of staying at the resort. The muck diving is great for one day but it gets old quick. Sipadan is where you want to be. Save your time and money and just go straight there.

staff goes above & beyond, great food, diving, accommodations very family oriented
Make sure you are very clear about permit fees to go to Sipadan
Malbu beach nice but not good island for walking very trashy stilt houses
Dive masters take care of you make sure you have ALL your equipment before the boat, check their equipment like lifejacket bring mask defogger
Good for snorkelers too

My girlfriend and me spend 4 days beginning of October 2013 at the Borneo Divers Mabul Resort.

The bungalows are quite simple but nice decorated and quite spacious. The shower is not the best, but it works. The whole resort is kept very clean; they clean the their part of the beach as well.
The food is the only downside of the resort. It is buffet style every day (morning, lunch and dinner), which could be fine, but the quality could be much better. I know it is on an island and very hard to get fresh food there, but still there is a lot of room for improvement.
The only reason to got to Mabul is the diving at Mabul and Sipadan of course. If you don’t dive, I would not go there, as the island is very small and really nothing else to do except diving. Snorkeling is also only at Sipadan worth doing, at Mabul the sight is just not good enough. The diving center and the diving trips are very well organized. You ‘ll do two orientation dives at the house reef the day you arrive, and then go to Sipadan and/or other spots. If you stay 5 nights, Borneo Divers guarantee you one day diving at Sipadan, but it is possible to get more permits if you ask at the desk. Personally, I found diving at Sipadan astonishing and really breath taking, but diving at Mabul not very good. I found the sight under water never really good, but maybe I am just not a fan of that so-called muck diving.
Borneo Divers is the only resort which do 4 dives at Sipadan at one day. All the other diving company only do 3.

The staff of t Borneo divers is really nice and they do a lot to make you feel comfortable. After just one day, everyone knows you by name and they greet you whenever they see you. Also special thanks to Ursula from the booking office, who help us a lot with our booking.

I know, Borneo Divers is not a really a cheap resort, compared to the standard of the bungalows and they took advantage of the Sipadan diving spot. But the overall organization of the transport and diving trips makes it worthwile.

We stayed for 5D4N in the resort in a room overlooking the beach. Myself and my boyfriend both went for the diving, I did my Open Water PADI and he did his Advanced PADI.

We stayed at Tawau & the resort organized a transfer for us at the beginning and end of our stay. On the way from the resort we stopped in Semporna to catch the bus and it seems like quite a dilapidated town. I wouldn't recommend staying there for long.

As if is off peak season we both got one on one training and the staff we all friendly, professional and all seemed happy to be there. We completed our training and then dived at Sipidan for one day (4 dives). Unfortunately as there had been storms visibility was poor and the currents were strong at Sipidan. The staff said although you can dive all yeah round April and May are the best times of year for diving and you should book early to secure a spot because this is peak season.

The food had lots of healthy delicious options and there was always entertainment with a pool bar, a jetty bar, or the beach bar available. Scuba Junkie had some live bands playing next door as well.

I would highly recommend staying here, although it was pricey the experience was amazing even though the weather was terrible. Next time I come here I'll be checking the weather as it affects the diving so much and that is what we came for.

Spent 4 days 3 nites with my family.... we were a bit sceptical when we first land our foot to the island but we were greeeted with a friendly greet and meet by Mr Steven who even greet me by my name !

The staff were courteous and really helpful in making the trip as a very memorable and one of the best breakaway!

Though The facilities need to be refurbished .... especially the amenities in the room I personally feel that each room should have an intercom for the guest to call the reception. .

Nonetheless once you are in d sea you ll forget about the stench in the bathroom its like you are so close with mother nature and you are in the different world dive master Tony and his partner Remie were very accomodating and patience for beginners like us!

In a nutshell if you are looking for an adventure in the sea this is the place to be ! But please dont expect Shangrila or 6 seven stars its strictly sun and sand ! Just go with the flow and u ll not be disappointed!

Kudos to the staff and management for the good effort sipadan never fail to mesmerize and live up to the world heritage standard .... we swam with the white tip, 6ft long grey reef sharks school of barracuda and the infamous bumphead !!

It was totally awesome!!!
