“Beautifully maintained memorial”

The gardens are lovely and well maintained. The information provided and the video documentary were great. A very emotional visit.

“Worth the visit”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

I traveled here after reading the history of the POW and all they went through, a truly sobering place, with a nice little museum in the Park. Well done all.

“It is a wonderful tribute to those that lost their lives”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

I did not know about this part of the war, and it was sobering reading about what happened in the prison camp. The park is well maintained and a great tribute to those that lost their lives at this terrible time in history. We had no idea that this happened in Sabah, most enlightening. So glad we made the effort to visit.

“A walk through history”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

It is a well-maintained place. Thanks to the large number of trees, the place is not so hot even though we went there in the afternoon. Unlike the one in Ranau, Sandakan Memorial Park doesn't require an entrance fee and it's bigger. You could see a handful of locals hanging around the area too.

“A must see place”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

The park is situated on the former POW camp from where the infamous WW2 marches started.
The area is very well looked after and gives a great insight into the history of the camp.
