We stayed here 1 night. In Sandakan you can buy a package tour for Kinabatangan river, but it's much better to come here on your own. Here, you can buy a package tour (that will include accomodation, food and 3 cruises per day) twice cheaper than in Sandokan. Plus, you can choose the room yourself.
What's good about this place is that it's located right on the bank of the river.
And when they found out that we're on honeymoon, they provided us a personal boat (there were just 2 of us in the boat, no more passengers) for no additional charge.
When you get on the boat, it's better you discuss with your boatman what would you like to see. That's what we did and it worked almost perfectly, coz he showed us the animals that we asked for. You know, there are dozens of boats that cruise the river and the boatmen talk to each other - like in which place what's going on right now, so it's better to let the boatman know your priority. It doesn't mean you will definitely see what you asked for, but the chances rise.
The rooms are basic and not so new as we expected, but ok- we had private bathroom and hot shower.
Probably, the rooms that are further from the road are less noisy. We had a room by the road and in the evening we could hear a couple of jeeps go by.
Still, even if you have a room that is close to the road, the noise shouldn't be a big problem, coz not so many vehicles go by that road, especially during the night.
The food was not something special (in terms of the amount and the variety), but tasty.
Still, the portions could be bigger.

We spent our first night in Sukau at Sukau Greenview (25MYR for a single bed in a dorm), but moved to RB Sukau Lodge next door where we paid 70MYR for a private bungalow for three. We had some questions about the cleanliness of the sheets, but the power shower with hot water more than made up for any issues.

We did all of our cruises with RB Lodge for 35MYR each. They were cheaper than Greenview and much less crowded, which meant we could tell the guide exactly what we hoped to see. Over three cruises, we saw a herd of pygmy elephants, two orangutans, tons of proboscis monkeys, and a whole bunch of other wildlife: http://erohisms.com/how-to-spot-orangutans-pygmy-elephants-and-proboscis-monkeys-on-a-budget-in-borneo/

Although the guides didn't speak perfect English, they were no worse than the guides at any other "backpacker" lodges, and the owner here was incredibly sweet, even waking us up in the morning to show us the red leaf monkeys hanging out on trees outside our room.

Rb lodge is one of the least expensive bed and breakfast in sukau compared to what most of the local people have told me.
well worth the price just make sure they put bug repelent in the room just incase some ants tend to get in.

Boat tours were great was lucky enough to see proboscis monkeys elephants and a lot of birds i didnt see the orangutan though :/ but i guess you have to be extremly lucky.
