A few people on here have noted that he hotel is showing its age, and that is true. The important things are there though. The staff are pleasant, helpful and proffessional. The rooms are a good size and have everything you need including a view out into the forest. The food was very good. I stuck to the rule of ordering local dishes and they were great. The breakfast gave you a wide range of options. There is even a little coffee and cake shop near reception that does great cakes! Importantly (for me) they had WiFi Internet to the rooms (free by the way). The hotel is a few minutes and a very cheap taxi fare from the centre of the town, but given that it is not a very attractive town, or somewhere you would go shopping, that is not an issue. Overall the hotel gets a big thumbs up from me. I would much rather stay somewhere with 90's wallpaper and good amenities and service, than a modern masterpiece with bad service.

This is a great hotel to stay at before and/or after your trips to Turtle Island and the Kinaratangan River. Very clean, nice staff, fun pool with water slides for the kids. Breakfast buffet and lunch were good. Also, the hotel is a bit out of town and surrounded by jungle so quiet. It's only 6 MYR to town (US$2) if you want to go into Sandakan.
