We visited Mulu on a 2 day trip after going to Niah caves - please note that although Mulu is amazing Niah is a lot better, easier to access and ALOT cheaper
You can only get to Mulu by plane - a short 30 minute flight from Miri
There is limited accommodation, non of which is cheap and unless you stay in the big expensive hotel you will only have electricity from 6pm to Midnight and no hot water or air conditioning
However saying that we did enjoy our Kampung style accommodation and temperatures do drop at about 2am
The caves are very impressive however our guide was rushing us through them and only ever stopped to point out the touristy bits which was a disappointment
The bat exodus was really good but we did have to sit around and wait for nearly 2 hours (due to our guide rushing us about)
All the caves were very interesting and well laid out with good walkways for tourists

The caves in the Unesco national park of Mulu are amazing. I liked the bat cave most. It is a true spectacular show once the thousands of bats swirl out of the caves. Don't miss out on this!
You need a torch and provide mosquito spray.
If it rains, take a poncho.
The walk is a 8kilometer walk. But very easy. I even saw 4 and 6 years old children doing it without complaining!!!

We only had one full day at Mulu but managed to pack lots in. Our guide took us to four caves, a village, a river cruise and the canopy walk. Cannot rate the park and its organisation highly enough. Superb.

Mulu caves ( have 4 caves ),arrive mulu airport from miri airport in the morning, after lunch at resort, enjoy a scenic view walk through the rainforest to the entrance of the langs cave, inside are the best and ever limestone rock formation, next to langs cave is deer cave, the world's largest cave passage, this cave has a moon like landscape and from one vantage point, profile of president lincoln can be observed, after that most evening at sundown (if no raining ) around 2 million of bats leave the cave to search their food. next day morning, rides by longboat up river to the wind cave with its impressive king's chamber, here stalactites and stalagmites with delicate lace like patterns are found, then cimb up around 200-300 concrete steps to reach the entrance of clear water cave, inside can found a under cave river, near clear water cave there is a wonderful swimming area ( i call it's clean water,a lots of fish and the taste of the water are very nice, have to taste its ) shaded by giant trees,we have our's lunch here.

I made this trip as my family trip. We are so impressive of the beauty of God's creation. Definitely it was worth to visit and all my family members were very satisfy for this trip. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of national park to preserve the nature and caves. The cleanliness of the park was in the tip top condition.
