Niah National Park is known for its beautiful caves. I enjoyed the walk even though certain pathways are wet and slippery, climbing the staircase in the dark cave, walking on the planks in the dark but yet it's a journey to enjoy the different scenery along the way. What you need to do is ~~keep walking, do not give up because the good things usually at the end of the tunnel. Remember to bring a touch light, towel, water, some food/energybar to replenish your energy, and the most importantly is to wear a pair of comfortable shoes. Personal guide is not required. You can follow the trail way all the way to Painted Cave. The whole return journey is about close to 9km, and usually it takes about 3-3.40hr to complete which is depends on your stamina. You gona discover yourself to see how amazing Niah Cave is. I love it.

It is just 1hr15min trip from Miri city. A great getaway from city. Do not give up half way and make sure you complete the whole track until painting cave, it takes about 3hrs to walk in. Remember to bring along torch light too.

A 4km track, mainly walking into 3 main cave. Journey from Great Cave to Painted cave is quite exciting with total black out without torch light. A cool experience not to be missed in Miri

Great visit. Took about 45 minutes to reach the trader’s cave and the great cave thereafter. Some parts are slippery so footwear with grip is recommended. Torches as well, tho there rentals along the way.

In my experience, it was my first time go to Niah Cave with my classmates because I never out from Kuching. I so proud to be Sarawakian because Sarawak have many attraction to show to tourist who come to Sarawak especially Niah Cave, Miri. After purchasing ticket i proceed to the river jetty where a small boat will ferry i across the river. i have to pay the boat driver RM 1 for the crossing (and again when you come back after you have visited the caves). The trail to Niah caves begins next to the museum. The distance to the first cave is about 3 km long and takes around 45 to 60 minutes to complete depending on your walking speed. The terrain is mostly limestone providing a challenging habitat for plants with thin, fast draining soil making vegetation prone to drought despite the frequent heavy rain. The first cave i arrive at is Traders’ Cave which is really a rock overhang rather than a true cave and i walk until the Scary Passage at Niah Cave. After that, i arrived at Gan Kira and continue to see the Painting Cave. After looking at painting cave, we back by using the same way we entered earlier.
