“5 star prices, 3 star hotel”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The hotel doesn't look as if it's been maintained at all. The room was clean (no sticky floors, cobwebs, dirty towels, sheets, etc.) though. The bed is really uncomfortable and the 3 pillows that we in the room were all completely different in size, softness, etc.

The breakfast buffet area was pretty cramped considering the number of people that were there at the hotel (there was a long queue to get in), and again the restaurant very much needs to be renovated.

The pool area reminds me of Genting's Outdoor Theme Park - cool in the late 80s - early 90s and really dated and silly now.

On the plus side, the staff are really friendly - always full of smiles and very helpful. The BBQ at the beach bar was also pretty good and good value for money too.

Overall, I am once again disappointed by Genting's inability to maintain its properties. Having paid upwards of RM800 for a 2 night stay here, I left feeling absolutely stooged.

Room Tip: Premier Sea View costs more but it may be the nicest rooms available.

A big rambling resort hotel on the East Coast of Malaysia. Has seen better day, looks and feels tired. Rooms pleasant and fairly comfortable. Air-cons could do with servicing as they do not cool that well. You have to have the ceiling fan on to get a comfortable level in the room. On-suite facility basic.
The WiFi is very poor, they charge MYR25.00 a night to have access in hotel and the internet speed is very, very slow. I had to go to the lobby to log on as could not get a log on in the room.
The evening buffet meals are good as is the breakfast selection. No issues there.
Hotel staff are pleasant and helpful. Coffee shop is hot as there is no air-con and the whole lobby area is open air and obviously hot.
Swimming pool is good and its easy access to the beach.

Room Tip: Get a room in the main complex and not in one of the wings.

Hotel room door still utilises conventional key, not the electronic type. Asked for a king size bed during phone reservation but given two single beds upon arrival. Spent the first night killing 2 cockroaches. Breakfast spread was the same every morning during my 3 day stay this month. Taxis anywhere from this hotel is marked up whereby the hotel staff would call their 'friends' and charge you exorbitantly. Air-conditioner does not work for the first 2 nights even after my complaint. Mattress is dusty underneath the comforter. NOT recommended at all.

We checked in around 8pm yesterday. The front office guy was ok, but another 2 ladies were not helpful. Our rooms 604 and 605 were in bad condition, dirty bedsheet and bath tub and there are small ants everywhere. Tried to ask for rooms change but were informed that the hotel is fully occupied - we dont see many people around though.

The staffs at Kampung restraurant were awfully rude, instead of helping to clear guests table, most of them are busy rather busy chit chatting. We have to ask for our table to be cleared and the staff eg erny and sharifah gave us "sour" unfriendly face instead.

This place used to be a nice but given its poor room condition and services, we definitely are not coming back here!

...my 3rd visit here, but this time was visiting hubby who is lodging here...some things just don't change i guess, after all this years the place is still the same..
...spotless,quiet,serene,peaceful...the ambience is still the same warm and welcoming...

..the grounds and golf course are well kept, but we were residing at the apartments in the grounds...nevertheless,though the apartments were newly furbished, some fittings appeared rather old and worn out...some mould was noted on the ceiling thats probably because of the humidity of the place...

..otherwise,its still a nice place to stay for a weekend and chill out...food is a wee bit pricey but for a 5 star thats how it is,most pricing is similar to a high end restaurant in KL so i guess that okie too....ohh!! and for women travellers take caution the place is not safe to be alone when out shopping in midday, there are strange cars that trail you around at the front shop row area....food is available from the shops in the front row...and theres also a KFC there..

Room Tip: ...basically all apartments look like they have been refurbished...so not much choice to pick..

Stayed here for a week during a golf tournament that was played on the resort course. Overall the hotel is nice, with nice big rooms, very good dining options, a good golf course and a nice setting on the ocean. I would say that some areas of the hotel are in need of some upgrade but couldn't find anything major wrong. All in all it is decent value for money in this location!
