Kapas Island Resort
Ranked #2 of 3 Hotels in Pulau Kapas
Reviewed 30 June 2014

The Kapas Island resort is also known as Kapas Resort and Spa. It is under a new management now - Taken over almost 6 months ago. They have 40-60 chalets and is the biggest resort on the island. The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. We were traveling with one child and they made an effort to cook for the child separately. Yes the rooms are a little run down, this is because it has not been occupied for more than 6 months. However, if you are not happy with the state of the room, they will send their cleaning crew to clean the room, wash the bathrooms etc and if you are still not happy, they will switch your rooms. thats how accomodating they are. We went for the package that included meals, snorkeling etc. However, i would suggest that you just take the room because there are many nice places to eat at the island. There is one convenience store in the whole of the island - as usual please expect to pay at least 30% more for the items purchased there.
The pool was still under renovation but overall it was ok. yes there is a graveyard next to the resort but it really looks like a beautiful garden, nothing to be afraid about. There were no power cuts when we were there. but the water pressure can be a little low at times. I would say that this is the ideal location for backpackers, solo trips, couples and friends but not a suitable place for children, as there is not much activity to keep them entertained :)

The beach was SUPERB !! white sandy beach with clear blue water..almost as good as redang or perhentian. The only reason i choose Kapas is because there was no availability in redang or perhentian due to SG school holidays... and i must say i was pleasantly surprised. There is not much to see when snorkelling, so if you just want to chill and relax by the beach.,....this would be the ideal location...

Room Tip: Get the premium rooms as they have just started renovating it and is in better condition, They are s...

We stayed three nights and it was more than we should have. Only the beautiful island made it worth for us. The rooms are not only old, but dirty and not maintaint at all. The food is not recommendable, so skip the breakfast.. never again this resort. The pool was under maintenance as everything else and the spa non existent. Do not go there. Look for another place to stay at.

To be honest, it's a bit of a shambles. There's no Wifi as promised and the pool's out of use. We had to ask 3 times for towels and toilet paper. There was a leak in our chalet which flooded the bath room, unnoticed during the room prep... There are power cuts, though that might be island wide. The whole place needs a load of work, but the staff seem to treat the place as a social club.

However, Kapas Island is simply breathtaking. The water is clear and the snorkelling superb. We loved the island, and chilling at KBC on the next beach.

Oh My God Allah.. Where do I start...

1) Horrible horrible expensive food. Food on any island would be expensive generally.. but serving horrible food is not an excuse any where. Fried rice not cooked properly, how can you not cooked a simple fried rice??!! We did walk over to another stall near the hotel, cheaper & better food.
2) It's an ancient not so clean room, with ancient cupboard, no hot shower & no TV. The air-cond only on but you can't change the temp, can't do anything with the remote (it's just for show..)
3) we've experience 4-6 times power trip per day so be careful using your laptop or any electronic devices
4) The resort itself it's not well maintained which is just ashamed as I can see a better prospect on landscape looking at all the shrub & trees on this resort..

Room Tip: There's no good room, just stay in another resort

Rooms are old and not maintained at all. We found toothpaste and hair in the sink. Toilet bowl is dirty. We payed 160 Rm per night, and I must say that even 16 RM would have been way too much for a place like this. In the so called garden, especially in the part close to the kitchen, there is an intense smell of sewage and garbage is left to rotten in garbage bins. Personnel is sloppy and definetly underqualified. Awful breakfast. Don't go. Better go to Pehrentians.
