The Kapas Island resort is also known as Kapas Resort and Spa. It is under a new management now - Taken over almost 6 months ago. They have 40-60 chalets and is the biggest resort on the island. The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. We were traveling with one child and they made an effort to cook for the child separately. Yes the rooms are a little run down, this is because it has not been occupied for more than 6 months. However, if you are not happy with the state of the room, they will send their cleaning crew to clean the room, wash the bathrooms etc and if you are still not happy, they will switch your rooms. thats how accomodating they are. We went for the package that included meals, snorkeling etc. However, i would suggest that you just take the room because there are many nice places to eat at the island. There is one convenience store in the whole of the island - as usual please expect to pay at least 30% more for the items purchased there.
The pool was still under renovation but overall it was ok. yes there is a graveyard next to the resort but it really looks like a beautiful garden, nothing to be afraid about. There were no power cuts when we were there. but the water pressure can be a little low at times. I would say that this is the ideal location for backpackers, solo trips, couples and friends but not a suitable place for children, as there is not much activity to keep them entertained :)
The beach was SUPERB !! white sandy beach with clear blue water..almost as good as redang or perhentian. The only reason i choose Kapas is because there was no availability in redang or perhentian due to SG school holidays... and i must say i was pleasantly surprised. There is not much to see when snorkelling, so if you just want to chill and relax by the beach.,....this would be the ideal location...
