If u are looking for a perfect n relaxing gateway on the island so this is the place u have to look for. The island activities are widely waiting to be discovered in ur surrounding. Everything was great and above average; room cleanliness, en-suite toilet including lodge facilities n staff!

No other word to be best describe that perhentian island is an oasis away from it all..car free and as friendly as can be :) luv the ambiance n its cottage island concept of staying -will definitely come back!!

P/s:If u are using digi for a tele-comm than just forget bout using it. Wifi only can be reach within their cafe n reception area! Chill~

Bayu is an excellent place. I went there twice for a total of more than two weeks. For those of you who like relaxed, friendly atmosphere, simple good food and DIVING in awesome spots, this is definitely the perfect choice.
Bayu combines quality for price accommodation with trustable diving centre.
In terms of accommodation there is a whole range of possibilities: from the fan room,to standard AC room, to garden view, and sea view room, price increases according to the type of room but remains in the range between 75-220 RM. The first time I have been trying all of them because it was always fully booked, as I booked last minute I ended up to fill the empty spots ;)
As for the diving centre, the staff is great: if you need to get the open water certification Pierre is the instructor you want to work with, very precise and focused on safety (I took my advanced course with him). For fun dives Guislain and One are definitely the best guides you can find in Perenthians - Batu Butuk is the recommended divesite for sea tunnels and noodies, temple of the sea if you prefer bigger animals, schools of fish, reef diving and floating in the blue.
The beach is nice and very spread out, never crowded. If you feel like diversifying there's a nice walk through the jungle that leads to other two beaches in less than 20 minutes.

Perfect and calm place to stay...good kitchen and accomodation - garden view cottage is very sofisticated and
beach in lunch time is really superb.Only one minus is that some surroundings out of resort is quite dirty with junks comming from the sea.And if will be there less ships on the beach than will be fantastic at all.Anyway very good place for chillout and relax.Opportunity for BBQ and diving are really on daily list;-)And the staff are very peacefull!

Amazing service, food was great.

The dive instructors Pierre and wan are amazing, we did our first scuba open water and we felt so safe and very very well informed.
The quality of teaching and customer service was perfect.
We will be going back as soon as possible.

Daniel and Melissa

Room Tip: All rooms are awesome we did the garden view room and it was perfect. Great value for money

spent 3 nights after switching every other night from at least 3 other places on Big Island (Pulau Besar)...we don't consider ourselves as picky travelers but in each place there was a major issue that forced us to leave and we were beginning to give up on finding decent accommodation until we came across BDL...we decided to try them for 1 night and finally were we able to get a good night's sleep that we booked the rest of the nights we still had on the island..although we didn't do any diving, we still enjoyed our stay and ate most of our meals at their restaurant..

a few cons but nothing that really bothered us as the others: room a bit dark even with all the curtains open, their beach is not the perfect spot to lay down with a book...other than that, we really have no complaints...it was the best place to end our trip.

We stayed for one night as the other places were all full. Since we were not diving, we could not check the diving facilities.

Pros:
- Quick check in and check out
- Clean chalet, hot shower, AC works mostly (see below)
- Beach location
- A bar is located beside the hotel

Cons:
- Since the chalet walls are all wood, and no tree shade above, the chalets can get very very hot in the afternoon, and the aircon is useless during this period.
- The beach near the hotel is not clean! Not the hotel's fault, but this seems to be a neglected part of the island. Lots of empty bottles, plastic thrown about. Pity the tourists who come to this part of the island don't take care.
- Not the best food, but works. Plus they serve beer.

All in all a good budget option, gets the job done.

We booked a garden view room with full board snorkeling package, which was very unwise as we didn't know there were many other choices along the beach. We booked our room about 1.5 month before our departure and was left with very limited choices and we finally booked we Bayu Dive Lodge. By the name you actually know it is for divers rather than snorkelers.
The room itself is ok with air con and clean bath room, but the staff service and food selection of the so-called full board package was very disappointing. We were given about 4 to 6 starters or main to choose from but half of the items on the food menu were not available. We can't have French fries or potato wedgets or Thai fish cake or green or red curry for every meal! We wanted to try the satay and BBQ Platter! At the end we gave up our last night dinner which was already included in the package and went for other BBQ cafe on the beach. Breakfast was also very basic and being served very slow although the food itself is ok. Try the B'fast cafe BBQ next door!
About snorkeling, we were invited to combine our 2 snorkeling trips into 1 to Rawa beach, seringgi and light house but the Rawa beach was really nothing special and we wondered why we needed to lost 1 snorkeling trip in order to go there. Also we then found that the charges next door is much cheaper and we actually lost by combining the 2 trips. At the end we still had to spent extra to get our originally planned snorkeling trip along the big island with B'fast.
Our advice: book the garden view room with this lodge if you are left with no choice. You can have better alternatives along the beach.
