We lucked out here, getting a room in the longhouse. It was extremely basic but worked out great. The location is awesome because its in its own private beach unlike staying on Long Beach or Coral Bay with many other people/places.

Room was basic but enough. Restaurant was ok, a bit overpriced but sufficient. Service was predictably slow but very friendly. Generally speaking, I could recommend this place.

D'Lagoon has a private beach which very crystal clear water and a nice beach. The beach has some corals though, but this means that the water has some great snorkeling spots. The setting of the resort is really nice and laid-back. There are several hammocks and beach beds underneath the coconut tree's. The restaurant is really good, yet they don't serve alcohol.
We were there with a group of 7 backpackers and booked the 3D2N package which included, a bed, 2 snorkeling trips, pickup and drop off by boat and 6 meals. This was amazing! We stayed in the dorm, which was good and equipped with a ceiling fan.

There are some nice hiking trails around the place, but getting to Long Beach was a quite a hassle. It's an hour walk, and by nights its impossible, so you need to use the water taxi's, which takes 5 minutes. Yet, they were kinda costly, 10 RM during the day, and double the price in the evening. Prices are in Malaysian Ringit and per person.

The owner is a bit grumpy, so just don't pis him of. Take of your shoes or flip-flops when you enter his restaurants or he gets mad. The staff don't speak English very well, but you should be able to communicate with them, just keep it easy

Overall, a great place to stay! A beaitfull and quiet place just around the bay from the busy and loud Long Beach.

After a bit of research we decided to stay at the smaller Perhentian island Kecil and booked the D´Lagoon. The location was what we were looking for. It is a 1 hour and more hike away from long beach and parties. It is calm and relaxing and has very good value. We stayed at the tree house, where you have your own kind if “wood house on the tree” on 2 floors (1st floor, bathroom, and second floor bed. To be honest the accommodation is basic but what do you expect on an island and especially the D´Lagoon where you have the feeling to be miles away from civilization, technical systems etc.? Still there is WIFI
If you are a Backpacker and planning a stay at the D´Lagoon you will get a very friendly staff and family environment, calm and relaxing beach far away from the tourists boom, maybe one of the last oasis on Perhentian and amazing coral reef where you could spend hours for snorkeling. There is actually a dive site right in front of the beach. Dive Shops will go there frequently. We were surprised about the variety of fishes! What other people write about the D´Lagoon we do not understand. Of course if you leave your food open in the rooms you get visitors at the night. We had this at other Islands i.e. at Panama so we were well prepared at this time. If you are looking for 5stars accommodation you won´t find it here. If you are looking for a small oasis and easy chilling environment, away from Mallorca parties you will find the best place on the Island!

First, the place is far from other main beach, 1 hours hiking in jungle, or you can take water taxi for 10MYR per person (min 15 if you are alone).

It has a small beach which is not sandy, but with broken coral, good for snorkeling though, and it is very relax to stay there, people are nice.

the main problem for me is diving center are on other beaches, D'Lagoon has own dive shop but it depends on how many persons are interested. Finally I join a dive site in long beach, and they pick me up (not every dive site will do), and the end of diving every day, I need to come back by water taxi.

I would suggest you to stay in other beaches if you want to dive in Perhentain.

D'lagoon is a very interesting place. Away from the busier Long Beach this place is on its own, but only A 5 min boat taxi ride from long beach. We stayed on the front looking out over the beach and palm trees, heaven. Basic as basic wooden huts and NO mosquito net which is a must. But we attached our own, I think you can rent from them. Cheap ok food, but they are so laid back that you need to more or less go into the kitchen to order.
There are walks behind the huts to 2 near beaches, Adam&eve beach and Turtle beach. Both you need to walk through the jungle, my advice....cover up, don't stop to look at anything and bring mozzy spray. We got eaten alive by mossies, but if you take those precautions it is fine.
Adam and Eve beach is amazing, and you must take a snorkel n mask with you, the left hand side by the rocks has axing coral and fish just metres out.
If you fancy an adventure here it is a great place!

We spend 4 nights in D'Lagoon and enjoyed our stay ! The rooms are very basic but comfortable ! The staff was friendly and the food was good (and cheap compared to other places on the island) ! But the best point is the isolated place ! The beach is small and you will not swim there because there are corrals, so perfect for snorkelling or diving !! (We saw many turtles, bumpheadfish, ...) !

Our stay was amazing. The staff is really helpful and service minded. There isn't any restaurants in this small bay, other than D'Lagoon own, which actually is quite okay and prices are reasonable. Very recommendable and delicious is their supply of fresh coconuts from own palms in the bay. During evenings you should wear a mosquito repellant or maybe some light clothing with long sleeves and long pants not to get bitten a lot. It is possible to rent snorkeling equipment, buy tours (island hopping, 4-spot (or so) snorkeling tour - potential of seeing sea turtles, etc.).
A small walk during the jungle (5-10 min) will bring you to the Turtle Beach, west-coast of the Kecil, where it is told that before 9am it is possible to see small sharks (<1 meter) in the water. I personally saw 1 small shark there + 1 small shark at the reefs in the bay of D'Lagoon.
The underwater life and experience is amazing there. I saw a huge fish, don't recall the name now, but is was a fish stream of 1-1,5 meter fish. Amazing.
Every evening around 8pm there is a funny jungle-visit in the restaurant, asking for food from the kitchen.. nice!

Room Tip: It can be quite cold during night, so consider to sleep with your light clothing on (also against mo...
